Game Thread Spurs (62-19) vs Nuggets (53-28) (Sunday 4/12/26) [7:30PM CDT]

Dude, it’s not about thinking that we can’t beat Denver. I absolutely think we have a decent shot at beating Denver in the playoffs, and would even say we’re favorites.

Why would you not want to play LA or Houston though? Why would you not want to make OKC deal with Denver rather than getting a free trip to the WCF? Why would you want Wemby to have to have a tough physical series dealing with Jokic and Valunciunas instead of Sengun or Ayton?

There are just so many reasons why it was CLEARLY in the Spurs’ best interest to win this game and knock Denver down to the 4 seed. They shat the bed and blew the opportunity.

I’m not saying the season is done and there’s no hope…but I think anyone acting like this loss is meaningless or has no bearing on our title chances is delusional. I’ll be over it once the playoffs start but for now it’s just very annoying. The icing on the cake is that it also helps Houston and I fucking hate the Rockets :st-lol: Would’ve loved to see them get 4-1d by Denver in the first round, but now they probably make it to the 2nd.
Difference between being upset that we set ourselves up for a tougher path than OKC. I totally agree with your point. It’s another to say we have no shot against Denver and that’s what I’m scoffing at.

Mitch with the dumbass decision to play small ball against the Nuggets. It just won't work against them because both Jokic and Valanciunas are both great post up players. Both abused it whenever they faced it on the court. That's really when the game was lost granted the Spurs didn't have much options with Plumlee and Bismack but I would have rolled the dice and played Plumlee. Plumlee could have atleast prevented some offensive rebounds.
In the limited minutes he played, rebounding looked worse TBH

I struggle to see what’s so difficult for people to understand about this… we weren’t going to to play HOU or LAL in R2 if we beat Denver tonight. We’d play MIN. (Technically we could play LAL if you think they can beat MIN… but… c’mon). There was no possibility to play HOU in R2.

Does continuing to say “We could have played LA or HOU!!” Help people justify their suicidal thoughts? What’s the deal here?

Well, that was fucking stupid. You could have ensured Denver and OKC had to face each other and instead sit a big stinking turd. What the hell was that? It was stupid. Whatever.

Worst of all, Harper is definitely hurt tbh. A thumb injury on the shooting hand is really, really bad news. I'm guessing minimum a sprain, hopefully not broken.

Huge chokejob tonight that this team will be learning from for years to come tbh.

They're not bums, but they haven't achieved anything to disrespect a game like this before it even began.

I think this is 100% valid, but its also a hallmark of young teams. There's a reason that young teams with no experience don't win titles and that right there is a great example of it. They don't know what it takes to win.

Either way their going to have to learn that at some point this post season in order to win. I undertand the point that not having Den in the 2nd round was going to be an easier path to the WCF and I don't disagree, but I also don't know that running into OKC without having tough matchups was going to be a good thing for their title chances. Maybe, but there's an argument to be made that they have an opportunity to learn from a tough DEN series and then apply those lessons in the WCF if they make it there. I don't know if its likely to be the case, but I also don't think people can dismiss it out of hand.

I think worrying about any of that is kinda pointless though. I don't think the Spurs are going to win the title this year and never have this year. I definitely believe they have a chance but I firmly believe that success in ANYTHING comes after struggle and the lessons you learn in struggling and they haven't done that yet. This game has done nothing to change my view on that, but apparnetly for many in this thread this game was the thing they needed to see in order to think a title was possible.

Valanciunas and Steven Adams have been kind of working us over in the past. It's nothing new. Zubac is another one of those dudes.

If they thought it was broken he woudlnt' have been on the bench IMO. But I hope its not too bad. I didn't see it happen so IDK what it looked like.

Hope it’s not a retear of the UCL he got repaired before the season. It’s the same thumb that’s hurt

Too bad most of you here are hateful kunts…

Would have been cool to enjoy this historic spurs playoffs run together with some chill spurs fans…
But you dont even sound like spurs fans anyway…maybe you are old kobe and curry bandwagon kunts tbh…

I misspoke - I meant to say LA/MIN. Regardless, Minnesota hasn’t looked great lately and there have been rumors about Ant Edwards not being fully healthy. I don’t think them beating LA is a 100% given, and either way I would much rather play Minnesota than a Denver team that has been the hottest team in the league the past few weeks.

That maybe true but you make it worse when you have Keldon, or Bryant guard him. That's just stupid and giving Valanciunas the opportunity of shooting 90 percent when even with an average 7fter guarding them they could miss a few shots but they are not going to ever miss with an undersized player guarding them plus they will kill you on the boards.

You don’t build dynasty’s off easy paths. I honestly don’t care who this team faces. They’ve shown resolve up to this point and I hope they earn some battle tested wins this offseason. It’s the only way you can become perpetual winners.

You have to fight the best to be the best.

One lucky season with cupcake match ups is awfully short sighted for a franchise that has its sights set on a dynasty.

I think people wanted OKC and Denver to duke it out tbh. I cared for that more so than OUR 2nd round match up
