Game Thread Spurs (59-18) @ Nuggets (49-28) (Sat 4/4/2026) [2:00PM CDT]

Who owns the tie-breaker with LA and Denver? Think it could end 52-30 for both...unless we sit Wemby in the last game. Then Denver will likely get the 3rd seed and us in the second round. If OKC and us beat them in the last two games it might be a tie between those two.
LA, I made a post in the seeding topic, not looking good for us.

Lakers have the tiebreaker but it won't matter tbh; they aren't winning another game this season.

Way to may over reactions on loses teams will lose games you will drop games to other good teams in season it's the nature of the beast it is another lesson to learn before the playoffs start

See Lakers own the tiebreaker so maybe they can still win a couple games and we can beat Denver for our last game. No sitting Wemby he has a week off for the play-in.

Fox is a moron, and Mitch needed to sub
him off
I think the feeling for most of the second half of the season is that if we lose big games like this in the playoffs, Fox is likely going to be right in the middle of something bad. If he was just decent today, they win this game comfortably. 7/19 FG is bad but it’s when he missed those shots and also terrible decision-making at points. Not getting the ball to Victor in a couple of big spots. Just no good.

Not too bothered by today's result tbh. Spurs might have needed to come back down to earth after that recent stretch - better that it happens before the playoffs start.

Here comes the predictable, cliched, lazy experience narratives. The reality is, the Spurs were overdue to lose and lost a coin flip game that they controlled more of.

If they pull it out, then what's the narrative? But they didn't so people default to this.
Getting out-executed by them twice late in streak-busting games is a bit of a worry, no? I have to admit, my confidence in beating them in a series has waned. Despite them being uncharacteristically bad in the clutch this season they were able to outdo us because they still know their stuff better than we do in these situations. It has the makings of Dallas-OKC 2024 type of series.

I’d have to go back and look at it but how the hell did they get a wide open dunk or layup on their last possession during regulation? Seems we should’ve forced Joker to play Wemby one on one in that situation.

Mavs won that series because Washington and their bigs killed the Thunder while Williams choked.

Yeah that's pretty much it. But we still got some damn good looks in the clutch. Just didn't knock em down.

Our D tonight was much more disappointing tbh. No excuse on that end of the floor.
Wemby had a pretty good look at the buzzer. I thought he was going to make that.

It was wemby’s stpid devision to double jokic while leaving gordon wide open.

Glass half full approach: We have HCA through the first 2 Rounds of the Playoffs and now we get a chance to beat a really good veteran team in the nuggets, and that experience can only help us if we get a crack at OKC. We have a harder road to get there now with today's loss, but it was never going to be easy regardless. Adversity builds character, and beating Denver would be sweet if we can pull it off. Then we'd get a crack at the 1-Seed that we went 4-1 against this season, and it'll be right after Wemby watches someone else hoist his MVP right in front of him.

Let's finish the RS strong, handle whoever we have in the First Round, and then go get some redemption by beating these Turd-Nuggets in the 2nd Round tbh.

We have our own prospective playoffs droppers who are already in choke mode (Fox, Keldon are giving that vibe). I think Castle is going to have to be our second-best player to win the series. I honestly think he has "IT" more than Fox to deliver in the big time, but that's just me

Hypothetically Suns-Nuggets-Thunder (Sonics)-Pistons would be very 2005, tbh.

We lost because of the 4 point play. Up 6 with one minute left, we were in control and just needed to not fuck it up.

Agree 100%. Fox was bad today, but bad shooting nights happen. Making a bone headed foul on that 4pt play should never happen though. Was like Manu’s stupid foul on Dirk - just gave the game away for no good reason.

Call it cope all you want. But the best thing that could have happened to this team's long term championship aspirations was a Loss today tbh. Specifically this type of loss.

Also agree with this 100%. We hadn’t played against any adversity in quite awhile and it seemed like that rubbed off on our guys. I’ll take a tough road OT loss against an all-timer having another all-time game (Jokic I’m referring to here). I wouldn’t want to go into the playoffs on a 16-game win streak where we are blowing everyone out… It’s good we got punched in the mouth in a game that, let’s face it, means zero to our regular season seeding.

This was a learning moment and we’re an extremely resilient team who has proven time and time again that we will learn and bounce back. I hope this one stings Wemby, Fox and Keldon (Wemby played great, but just the sting of defeat motivates him) and they bounce back with a vengeance.

Sucks they lost but that was a pretty damn awesome game to witness live @scott

Amazing, truly bucket list stuff. Already told my supplier rep we are doing this again next year 😂. Can’t believe I got to watch Wemby and Jokic go at it from a couple feet away and they put on an epic battle. Not sad at all about what I got to watch today… thank god none of the drama queens in this post are allowed in public, I don’t think arena staff are trained to deal with people committing suicide in the stands.

Keldon missed 3 or 4 threes literally right in front of me. Rotation was solid, shoots were good, they just rimmed out. It happens, but he’ll bounce back.

One play I asked @Ice009 to remind me about… Braun set up right in front of me, I could practically smell his asshole, on an inbounds play… and literally no one bothered to guard him. Luke and Dylan just kind of stared at each other and they made the easiest inbound for a 3 in history. Braun looked amazing tonight, dude could not miss - I know he hasn’t shot great this year, but you wouldn’t know it from this game. He looked like Prime Klay out there.

I have so many other thoughts from this experience, but I’ll just leave with a shout out to the Denver crowd. There was a good turnout of us Spurs fans in attendance but there was zero hostility from anyone on either side (probably because the suicide squad isn’t allowed in public). After the game, we all just talked about what an amazing 7 game series this will be if we meet again. Respect to the Denver fans and the staff… true class acts (maybe it helps when you are in seats like this).

Nuggets were allowed to be physical. Spurs were not. It kept TVs from turning off….., which kept the Nuggets in the game.

And….. Spurs didn’t execute down the stretch. It’s likely a preview of the playoffs. The Nuggets are NOT the better team, but they will be allowed to more physical than SA will. It it what it is.

Before the game I told my party that Champ was going to hit a 3-pointer to win right in front of us from an angle behind the backboard… and Wemby almost made that game winner right in front of me from behind the backboard. It was an almost impossible angle I can’t believe it almost went in. I would have jumped through the roof had that gone in!

IMG_9914.webpDidn’t take a ton of photos bc I was watching the game but here are a few

Yeah, when he let it go, I thought he had it.

The atmosphere must’ve been absolutely insane. Loud as hell in there.
