Game Thread Spurs (59-18) @ Nuggets (49-28) (Sat 4/4/2026) [2:00PM CDT]

Fake ass shooting from keldon, vassell, fox and castle. When it really mattered they all of a sudden cant make shots.
I cringe when I see KJ shoot his 3-ball - definitely looks like Stephen Jackson as some poster said before!

While I really stay will have bad games, it will be just a critical for the coaching staff to make the right adjustments and not allow momentum to swing before making a switch. This includes challenging questionable calls which Mitch seems to rarely do.

Definitely wanted to see more inside play today and they hurt themselves with the long ball many time today. Seems like they live with the mantra “live by the 3 die by the 3”. Bugs me to see Wemby in a smaller player and he’s still by the FT line whereas Joker will back that small guy down to the basket.

Yup, felt the same. I also think Fox wanted to redeem himself and kept messing up more. Im not a Fox hater but man that was some poor play by him down the stretch. Over all a good game against a good playoff, former champion team. These are playoff type games. Spurs need these type of games.
The difference between this team and the Big 3. Manu won’t make those kind of mistakes. Or that close out on Fox, Manu would’ve landed on the defenders foot, regardless he’s taking 3 pt FT. It’s all experience and cleverness, higher IQ plays

You sound like a spoiled bitch tbh. Which is confusing considering we've sucked ass until this year. You suddenly think 10 game win streaks are common in this league. We played like ass tonight no doubt about it. Especially in clutch situations. But to discount what this team has done this year and say we have no chance against these types of teams is frankly idiotic.
Where was the defense today? Or any time they've played Denver this year? No one is discounting anything. It's been a great season. Wemby is that dude and will win us a title soon. Just not this year tbh

Not worry at all, this was a good test of playoffs basketball, If we meet them in the WCSF we beat them in six :vic-cheers:

Playoff will be more tough if our 3 point shot wont fell

Payton Watson will also be back for Den and he was solid this year for them.

We should lose ZERO games Wemby has 34, 18, 7, 5 blks.

If Fox has an off shooting game, whatever, it happens. But the guy is fouling 3pt shooters in the clutch, and dribbling the ball off his legs. He’s not a plus defender and his size can be exploited. That’s concerning for me. He’s here to stay for a while and I’m ok with that, but he needs to be a hot hand type of guy and not a go-to by default.

Nah, Stephen had better form and could actually hit clutch shots. Not sure about that comparison at all. The main similarity is the high arc. The form isn't the same.

Just saw that Reaves is out for the rest of the regular season too. Lakers are losing that 3rd spot.

So I guess the 2013 Finals is just completely wiped from your memory

Call it cope all you want. But the best thing that could have happened to this team's long term championship aspirations was a Loss today tbh. Specifically this type of loss.
Agree. As I was saying they need to keep sharp, or sharper because it’s not going to be easy. Better to lose now and learn from it, than a catwalk to the Playoffs and get blindsided. Spurs need to address what went wrong

Fox, Castle and Keldon combined for 0-16 from 3pt and we still scored 124 in the regulation.
Offense isn't an issue, despite a handful of terrible plays that sold the game.
Defense must be better, regardless of the Nuggets being the best offensive team in the league.
We can't be giving up 124 in the regulation while Murray is having a quiet game. It's not like the Nuggets made a lot of bs shots on us.

100%. Not sure how they will respond in the playoffs, but this loss helps them more than a win if the goal is to go deep and win it all. A loss helps more than a win. What we saw here tonight, though, was that inexperience and not good execution and not smart plays. Not sure if the Spurs will play games like that in the playoffs or not.

Think a close win would've been better myself but at the end of the day this game lost meaning the moment it was announced Reaves was out for the year tbh.

The game was lost in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter where we missed a ton of opportunities to deliver a knockout punch. We missed another one with a Keldon 3 late in the game as well. That plus Fox selling down the stretch.

It happens and they get time to learn from it tbh.

Especially with wemby playing heavy-ish minutes. Good playoff practice

I'll sleep comfortably tonight

I don't think he can turn it on. I am not trashing him, but what he's done all season, deferring to others, I don't think that's helped his game. If the Spurs want the best De'Aaron Fox, he can't play this way. Shouldn't have signed him to a max contract if this is what they want. Deferring doesn't let him get rhythm. He's pretty good when he's able to get shots and get his game going, but that isn't what the team wants him to do, so what is the point of maxing him out.
Agree. I think we (or maybe with someone else) had a conversation about this exact thing awhile back. At the time of the trade it was a great pick up because we needed a pg. Getting Harper, which I think the Spurs thought they had no chance of getting the second pick, and the leap Castle made this year kinda threw that plan off.

Stephen was ice - he could drain it!

Now - coaching staff needs to regroup and just review the tape and really learn from it and adjust on the defensive end. They will meet again last game of the reg season.

I hope this doesn’t hurt Keldon‘s 6th man chances since it was a national audience. I still don’t understand why they did not put him in the block and let him go to work. 🤦‍♂️
