Game Thread Spurs (59-18) @ Nuggets (49-28) (Sat 4/4/2026) [2:00PM CDT]

So I guess the 2013 Finals is just completely wiped from your memory
Would always hurt because Timmy could’ve tied MJ with that ring (another discussion). But that was on Pop I think, not having a rebounder, Nephew missing FT…. But it’s not about mental lapse on Spurs players, it’s just Allen making that incredible shot

What another awesome game by Wemby. Lets not let that get lost on the phuck ups.
Wemby gave us an MVP performance. We should've won this game thanks to him. His supporting cast failed him today unfortunately.

But like Mugen said above, we have to look at the big picture here. Losing this one will very likely help us in the long term. This team is really young and inexperienced and that matters immensely come Playoff time. The Playoffs are just a different monster and we just don't have the experience yet. It's why young, inexperienced teams almost never win it all. Our young guys have to learn how to overcome these types of situations before we can succeed.

Spurs may not ring this season, but we'll still win 60 games this year which is insane considering where we were projected to be in year 3 of this rebuild. And at least we'll give ourselves a shot to make a deep Playoff run. That's all you can ask for tbh.

The game was lost in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter where we missed a ton of opportunities to deliver a knockout punch. We missed another one with a Keldon 3 late in the game as well. That plus Fox selling down the stretch.

It happens and they get time to learn from it tbh.
Reminded me of that Warriors game Fox sold.
Still, it's disappointing that Nuggets keep beating us in the clutch, it's down to Jokic still being a tier above Wemby as a self-creator.
If we meet them in the playoffs, Mitch will need to figure something out.

Call it cope all you want. But the best thing that could have happened to this team's long term championship aspirations was a Loss today tbh. Specifically this type of loss.
Except that you got a vet PG soiling himself here and not the younglings :st-lol: Not sure I want my new Spurs era team first playoffs to be a learning experience for 28 yo Sacramento Kings lifer

Think a close win would've been better myself but at the end of the day this game lost meaning the moment it was announced Reaves was out for the year tbh.
I’m not happy about any player going down, but this could be trouble for the Lakers

I hope this doesn’t hurt Keldon‘s 6th man chances since it was a national audience. I still don’t understand why they did not put him in the block and let him go to work. 🤦‍♂️
These are the type of questions I would like the coaching staff to figure out before playoff time. Recognize the mismatches and exploit them.

Agreed it bugs the heck out of me that Denver seem to pull through in the end! Well the Spurs will have to figure it out! Hope Mitch and his staff does just that! Heck say “pop, any suggestions after checking out this game tape?”

I know I’m just blowing off steam. Ok, I am done.

Call it a knee jerk reaction: But i don't trust us outexecuting Denver with Fox manning this offense in close game. Castle would have to be the second best player for us in this series

This loss rings up as a 4 out of 10 on the Concern-O-Meter, and mainly about how the end of regulation and OT went rather than the rest of the game.

They would’ve had an easy pick and pop with LeBron, targeting Tim.

They most obvious problem we need to fix is when they were doing the 2 man game with Jokic and our players weren't rotating properly so it would lead to wide open three pointers over and over (until Fox FINALLY stopped it late in the 4th).

It really came down to execution in money time the last 2 games against Denver. We really can win those games, but we played like shit when it counted.

Not like we never saw Manu sell a game, massive eye roll tbh

Yeah, I’m not discouraged at all. Disappointed we didn’t win because we were in control for like 45 minutes and 30 seconds. But a lot had to go wrong for us to lose. We are fine.

Yeah that's pretty much it. But we still got some damn good looks in the clutch. Just didn't knock em down.

Our D tonight was much more disappointing tbh. No excuse on that end of the floor.

Carter bryant played great d in the first half.Yet mitch still forced barnes in the 3rd qtr letting braun go off
thanks to barnes not playing d and giving him wide open shots. This loss is on mitch.

Here comes the predictable, cliched, lazy experience narratives. The reality is, the Spurs were overdue to lose and lost a coin flip game that they controlled more of.

If they pull it out, then what's the narrative? But they didn't so people default to this.

Yeah, we could've used a couple more minutes of CB on Murray. He even had a couple of good possessions on Gordon.

Mitch knows that Barnes will always be the main target when he's on the floor, we'll see how he adjusts.

Who owns the tie-breaker with LA and Denver? Think it could end 52-30 for both...unless we sit Wemby in the last game. Then Denver will likely get the 3rd seed and us in the second round. If OKC and us beat them in the last two games it might be a tie between those two.
