Game Thread Spurs (5-1) @ Lakers (6-2) (Wed 11/05/25) [9:00PM CDT] on ESPN

Omg the pessimism on this site is unbelievable. Spurs are apparently the worst team starting 5-1 of all time. Where is the faith and love of the team you believe in and watch every day?
We're just not blind homers. Luka historically owns us, that's just a fact. We're on the road playing with basically no PG besides JMac and are down 3 major rotation players (possibly more), one of whom is an all star. It's just being realistic imho

People don't want to admit it, but Sochan has been able to keep Luka relatively in check when they face off with each other. Luka vs. Spurs when Sochan plays, 35MPG, 31ppg on 43% FG, 32 3P%, 54% TS, 10 rebounds, 10.1 assists, 2 stls. The last two games Sochan actually held him to 21pts on 25% shooting and 28 pts on 36% shooting, so having Sochan back to guard Doncic could help.

But then this goes against the narrative people try to paint, which is if Sochan is bad on offence, he must suck at every single other aspect, including defence, his general intelligence and how he is as a person.

the teams we have beaten so far have an overall record of like 11-25 ... we are 1-1 against Western Conference teams ... we accomplished nothing of value.
and Luka cooks the Spurs every time. so yes, I am pessimistically realistic

Yea I think Spurs lose their next 2 to LA and HOU tbh. Especially without Harper and KornDog. Would love to be wrong obv, but any game we have to play Biyombo significant minutes is going to be tough to win tbh.

:st-lol: it was one game tbh. That said, even with our glut of guards, the Peterson kid from Kansas would be pretty hard to pass up as well.

Prayingdog.jpg the Hawks net us a top 3 pick.
Peterson is clear number 1. Next Kobe some say with better handles. You don’t pass on him even if you have Jordan prime. Steph curry. Etc etc

Lakers will win today. Organization still holding Fox out. Dude is ready. We can’t defend or shoot the three despite Wemby as anchor. Our guys don’t play the perimeter well. Always see us doing bullshit close outs as they jack off rest of the possession. We have to perimeter defenders except castle and Harper.

@ShamsCharania BREAKING: De'Aaron Fox's return to action for the San Antonio Spurs has been delayed indefinitely while he seeks a second opinion about a hamstring tendinopathy diagnosis on the advice of a family advisor.

**JOKE POST ADDENDUM**

Good evening, my fellow Baseline Bums users.

Today Blizzardwizard was informed that baselinebums.com is drawing the line on standards and practices as it relates to jokes on Baseline Bums and Blizzardwizard.

In the future they need to be careful what they do and what they don't do. Blizzardwizard gets in trouble every time they do something gratuitously.

Therefore the following are the standards and practices that Blizzardwizard promises to adhere to:

"On Baseline Bums game threads, I will only use the words: Go, Spurs and Go.

I will however never use the words: Indefinitely, Tendinopathy, Second Opinion, Family Advisor or any other Kawhi Leonard or Uncle Dennis-related terms.

Now as it pertains to other threads, I promise there will be less fake tweets.

I will make less references to that enormous bitch move in 2018.

And on a final note - even though many of you believe this whole thing is overblown - I am not, I repeat, I am not saying people should stop whining about a fucking joke for no reason.

As a matter of fact, I am only implying it."

:st-lol:

Don't blame this on the site, I thought that shit was hilarious

That's by far his best skill. His footspeed at that height makes him tough to score on because he's quick enough to stay in front of smaller players and can contest their shots because he has a height advantage. Sochan is a legit 1 to 5 defender. I said before I believe he's one of the few guys who could guard Shai. Just gotta see how he can fit into line ups offensively.

As much as a hater as I am, I agree with you @ambchang and @RC_Drunkford - tonight is peak usefulness for Sochan. Would be a good day for his debut.

State run media is chalking up the other night to “young team, growing pains” as far as their timing with Wemby and overall offensive flow.

We’re past “growing pains” right? Barnes was among the guys just not understanding ball movement btw. Pretty sure he’s not a rookie. And if 3 years wasn’t enough for the tank amigos and 1year isn’t enough for castle who is a high pedigree guard…what even are the expectations at this point.

Yep, looks like we'll be sailing the high seas for this one.

In addition to the YouTubeTV/ABC spat, I learned yesterday that my Disney/Hulu/ESPN bundle also doesn't give me access to live ESPN... you need some other, special bundle for that. Maybe cable wasn't so bad...
We've considered going back to cable OR using a digital satellite for games. We're right between SA and AUS. Might be the best option.

I cancelled YTTV - after the price hikes, losing ABC and ESPN (which will prob get resolved), nonetheless we're done. And I work for that company haha

"relatively in check" by letting him score 30+ and average a triple double

Ugh...stop babying Fox already. This is ridiculous

Would be nice if the others came back at least. We could really use the shooting from KO and LW.

Kornet injury is starting to become concerning though. Like this is a long time for a sprained ankle that we didn't even see happen live. Wish the Spurs weren't always so fucking secretive about everything
Yeah, I haven't seen anything posted, but I'm betting now it was a high ankle sprain as opposed to a standard ankle sprain, meaning damage to the ligaments between the tibia and fibula. It usually doesn't require surgery but takes much longer to heal than a basic sprain. I had one once, and it sucked.

speak for yourself pal! ; )

Start Minix and Potter. Fight fire with fire

uhh fight wildfire with a Zippo lighter.
Fighting wildfire with a jerry can of diesel, you mean? Playing four on five, since Potter has left the building. Happened just after DJG and he lit up the Pacers in the final preseason game.

Gemini and ChatGPT are your friend here.

Tyrese Halliburton, Jason Tatum, Kevin Durant, et al., urge you to search "What is the biggest contributor to future ankle injury?" and...calf, hamstring, lower leg injuries?
