Game Thread Spurs (43-17) @ Sixers (33-27) (Tue 03/03/26) [7:00 PM CST]

Staying healthy was like his biggest strength. Now even that might fall apart. Crazy because he’s not that old in nba years and doesn’t really have a lot of playoff mileage but he plays like a washed 38 year old.
Dramatic.
15-18 mins of HB with a healthy squad is sufficient for us.

Ankle soreness sounds like a precautionary rest situation.

TBH, he’s always kind of played and looked like an old man.

In an association where you are only as good as your last game, March represents a blank slate for San Antonio who can not afford to rest on their laurels of a spectacular February. I am confident what we've seen is tangible and reproducible.

Thought about getting tickets to this game but work has been murdering me and I wasn't going to be free in time to get up to Philly so watching it at home on TV it is. Hope they smack the shit out of the sixers.

HB is worthless out there, literally brings nothing to the starting lineup. Bad offense/bad defense. Hoping we can upgrade the position through the draft if we're lucky.

I know I bungee jump off the bridge regarding this team at times, yet I applaud their accomplishments this year and they have exceeded my expectations! Keep improving, stay healthy, and let’s get that win tonight and start another winning streak!!! GSG!!!

Just cannot be counted upon. Getting worked all game and then hitting the odd 3 here or there is not going to cut it. need him off the team.

You just know he has another scholarship ready to pull out his ass to build more community goodwill aka plot armor

CB shouldn't be anywhere near the starting lineup of this team, IMO. He's had his workload increasing as of late, and that should continue... but he's still showing how raw he is.

Julian at the 4 is solid and should absolutely continue, but that's just my opinion.
I think he's a better defender than either Julian or HB. I think he provides physicality and has potential to be better than both those guys. Starting him would give him more confidence. If he doesn't play well offensively, can easily be benched and still get similar minutes to what he was getting, but IMO, the defense can be better starting him (it's offensively where the issue/s may be).

We'll see at the end of the season as I think that starting PF spot is likely what will do the Spurs in, in the playoffs.

Just turned it on... am I to understand there is currently a power outage in the stadium and this may end up delayed?

Edit: looks like no

He is a better individual defender than Julian and HB... he also has a tendency to pick up 3 fouls in 2 minutes, because he's a raw rookie just learning the game.

Ultimately, we aren't here to give CB confidence, we are here to win ball games. CB is on a good path as it is, there is no need to start playing games so that we can build a rookie project's confidence.

And I disagree with that. Building his confidence will give them team a higher ceiling in the playoffs. I'm looking at this season. Not next season or the season after. I'm looking at where the Spurs are going to be exploited in the playoffs and that seems like a glaring hole to me. Unless Mason Plumlee can play in some two big lineups with Victor, I don't see Julian or HB as someone that can hang with the bigger, bulkier PFs of the league. They're going to get outrebounded and be outmatched physically.

I think they're going to get exploited there. Julian isn't going to do well guarding guys like Julius Randall etc.. You've seen the Spurs in some of these games try and put Steph on guys like KAT. They've had him guarding KD at times too. That ain't going to work in the playoffs. Spurs should have tried CB at the starting PF slot during their slump. That was when I wanted them to try it and it would have been the best time. I doubt Mitch wants to do it anymore as it looks like he's tightening a playoff type rotation.

Anyway, all good. I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see.

Edit : Fox is also a big issue. I was one of his biggest supporters throughout most of the season, but unless he starts actually playing a lot better, I'm losing confidence in him. He's been very poor lately IMO.
