Game Thread Spurs (43-17) @ Sixers (33-27) (Tue 03/03/26) [7:00 PM CST]

This is a big game as far as I'm concerned. Apart from Detroit (Who was missing Stewart and since they wanted to play physical, who knows how the Spurs would have went against the extra physicality he would have likely brought. It was a good win, but Detroit weren't at full strength missing one of their key players that brings physicality) the game against NY was a really good test against a full/close to full strength team. A test that they failed. They've played too many depleted or just plain crap teams in their 11 game win streak. Maybe only the second time in that streak that they played a good team that wasn't missing key players, and they got their asses handed to them.
Maybe a positive person would say, "spurs won 11 games in a row and I am very grateful/happy"...

This site is already twice as negative as spurstalk ever was and i just stay away during games due to the insane amount of fragile cliff jumpers...

Imagine this site - 2-3 seasons ago when the spurs really sucked...

Not even close :st-lol:

The "mitchsuckers" and "gutless worms" threads here don't even get new post with every loss:st-lol:

death, taxes, and premature/unwarranted metldowns in spurs gameday threads
When I miss the beginning of a game I catch up in the game thread first and try to guess how many points the Spurs are ahead based upon the negative comments. It's a tough assignment but I'm getting better.

i cant do it. the amount of times have i skimmed through the thread and thinking we must be down 20 only to see we are up 7 is insane

Lots of meltdowns here and in the press about us finally losing a game. Knicks are a good team. Could we face them in the Finals? Well that would be a great thing. Meanwhile let's get back on track with Philly. Detroit will be another tough one.

Throwback NBA sounds fun, but I'll be on FanDuel so doubt they'll be on there. I like Sean and Jacob just fine.

SpursTalk could get really dire, so I don't know. But yeah, this team is blowing past most everybody's expectations and having a tremendous season. We're not only gunning for maybe the playoffs but a probable top seed. We're not simply a kind of cute team, we're showing flashes of being a true threat. And still people whine at every loss and if it's not a championship it's tear the team down.

I’m going to post this again here so it doesn’t get missed.

The Spurs are the second best team in starting games. Facts over feelings. The Spurs have been were on a 11 game winning streak and fans want to turn it upside down because of one loss. Think about how crazy that sounds.
How are they at the start of the third quarter? I'll post this again. I completely disagree. Starting Carter would be the better choice going forward. The Spurs can use his defense and physicality.

And for the record, I wanted to start Carter weeks ago. I even posted about it. I just think it'd be a better move (since the Spurs didn't address it via trade as HB is washed and was a poor playoff performer when the Warriors traded him 10 years ago, and Julian, I believe is starting because the Spurs needed an alternative to HB. I don't think that is going to work in the playoffs when teams can exploit Julian's defense/lack of size). Games during the winning streak have even made me think so more. Getting beaten on the boards and getting outplayed physically against Detroit, NY (the two good teams the Spurs played in the streak).

CB shouldn't be anywhere near the starting lineup of this team, IMO. He's had his workload increasing as of late, and that should continue... but he's still showing how raw he is.

Julian at the 4 is solid and should absolutely continue, but that's just my opinion.

Most of us groaned at Mitch being given the head coaching job (I was one too) but none of us expected him to get Coach of the month honors. I know he’s working with a lot of talent but it’s clear the players respect him and he’s still very much a competent coach. I hope he will still have some tricks up his sleeve for the playoffs.
