Game Thread Spurs (43-16) @ Knicks (38-22) (Sun 03/01/26) [12:00 PM CST]

I can see the castle on bigs stupidity has still not passed.. by now he's too important to be wasting fouls on KAT, come on mitch get it together, how many times do you need to try the same thing?

I'm not worried about this team. The other team just scored more points. It doesn't mean anything in the long term. The New York Knicks will always be a loser franchise despite the NBA's continued attempts to keep this shitty franchise relevant.
in a finals series right now we dont beat them.
If they lose to Philly without Embiid and PG then this winning streak was a mirage imo.
very well maybe true

He got scared when castle got 2 fouls…gotta roll with the punches and trust castle can handle himself. Growing pains but it’s getting ridiculous

Watched it on prime with a an hour delay and certainly it feels strange to be late to game after work here in England but big plus was that I could skip all those usual dumb NBA breaks. As soon as we took over at the beginning I knew it would end badly somehow. And it did with a bit of help from revs. That flagrant on Dylan made me want to quit NBA again for a decade, fucking clowns. Then we started forcing, and everyone disappeared, went cold or both. Maybe too much confidence after great February or RRT got to them finally, whatever, every win streak ends sooner or later. Looking forward to next games. GSG.

There is no denying that Knicks give us a lot of problems, they are a tough match up in particular in the MSG. Now on to the next game

Spurs thrive on fast pace while the East teams thrive on physicality and half court game. All is well if the Spurs are hitting, but if not then the Spurs need to attack the basket.

Spurs is missing a strong PF to battle inside for rebounding and bruising opposing PFs. I admit I haven’t seen a whole lot on Kornet, but he seems slow and can’t jump to be an effective defender against a Denver or Wolves players.

FFS looks like NYK have joined the Pamper crew.

IMO, some of y’all will trade one win for five losses.

We were gonna run well ahead of the Knicks early until the refs stepped in and gave the Spurs a tech on that BS reckless close out call. After that the momentum completely shifted. Then we went cold and missed alot of shots and their role players started hitting a bunch of 3's. Particularly Mikal Bridges. It was all a snowball trainwreck after that. A bunch of sloppy turnovers and plenty of 2nd chance points gifts from not closing out on the rebounds. I'm not too panic. I don't believe the Knicks are that good of an offensive team. They just got hot. Mitch had some very questionable matchups out there after the half. Pretty sure it's the Spurs not wanting to show all their cards. What kind of concerns me is Kornet seems pretty slow footed. It limits how and when we can use him. I believe that's why the Spurs seem to be looking for another big but that is more agile.

One of the main reasons I hate losses like this during the regular season, we don't get to see what type of adjustments are made the following game like in the playoffs.

Agreed and if we do make it to the NBA finals and have to play them I’m not sitting here thinking we can’t beat them because of matchups. I think we have more talent and would have HC. But the coaching staff has to really up their game that is for sure.

Saw several Vassell on KATs also.
Of course the refs were completely enabling KAT to foul Vassell, so i'm not sure even Timmy Duncan on KAT would have mattered with KnicksRef on Sunday.

Kornet looked like he was laboring a bit when he ran up and down the court. Couldn't tell if it was his hip or leg, he just didn't have a normal level of fluidity for him.

The sequence when Wemby came in on a second free throw attempt by the Knicks in the first was terrible. The missed free throw went right over and through his grip and the Knicks made a three off it. May have been the same closeout sequence, but it was a four or five point swing just because Wemby didn't secure the miss.

It’s actually good that they lost, learning that they need to replace Barnes with a better defensive PF. It’s better to learn that now. Sure Castle at some nights could defend a Sengun, but teams adjust at the playoffs. You don’t want to be with nothing left in the bag
