Game Thread Spurs (42-16) @ Nets (15-42) (Thur 02/26/26) [6:30 PM CST]

Just for fun and out of curiosity, I just looked up Tim Duncan's first ever career game against the Nets. He led the Spurs with 21 efficient points and 17 boards, but also commited 7 TOs. He didn't have that much help, though, with David Robinson only going 5-12 for 13/8, and Avery Johnson the only other Spur to reach double figures with 11 points and 5 assists. The Nets were led by 21 from Keith van Horn (on 7-30 shooting, ouch) and 20 from Kerry Kittles (on 7-20, still bad enough), while Sam Cassell added 14 points and 8 assists.

The Nets won 95-84 at home.

wonder how we approach guarding MPJ, as he's the only real threat for the Nets. obviously Castle is our perimter ace, but MPJ's game is just shooting right over guys, and Castle, while big for a guard, may have issue getting legit contests up on MPJ's shots. if carter bryant were 1-2 years along in his development, that would be a fun game-long matchup. my guess will be Vassell

Castle is questionable for tonight. I guess it will be Champ and CB.

Keldon too, apparently.

Aww, crap.

We need to go for the kill early. Put 'em in a tailspin, as the Admiral famously talked about against those Nets when we went up double digits early in Game 2 in the 2003 Finals (unfortunately we did not that game, the Nets came back quickly and took control of that game and survived a late Spurs comeback and took that one in our house)..

We need to play Wemby more early, establish a 20+ point lead in the first quarter, then rest guys later. Hopefully lots of Carter Bryant and Harper.

keldon had the injured shoulder yesterday what is castles injury his hand or the muscle issue from earlier that held him out or did he aggravate the hip pointer

Left hip flexor tightness. I think the side he injured last time was right hip flexor but I could be wrong

Bold prediction: Brooklyn native Julian Champagnie makes tonight's game all about him, as he sinks 12 3-pointers and turns in a 40-10 double-double.

Go Spurs Go!

I really hope Victor had a good night of sleep. Wrapping up a perfect month would be a great feather in our cap.

Would like to see CB draped over MPJ defensively

probably the only guy we have that could affect his shot (not including wemby who probably would not find himself in position to challenge him). but would be a risk throwing a rookie just barely in the rotation at the other teams best (and frankly, only) threat

Agreed. And with CB's incredible 3 fouls in 3 mins like the Pistons game it would be a gamble on foul trouble and confidence for him. Probably start with Champ on MPJ and see.

Just put Sochan on MPJ.

Keldon didn't look great after the shoulder injury. Would sit him out until the Knicks game tbh.

Well be prepared for a loss. I'm home from work and I'm watching the whole game.
