Game Thread Spurs (35-16) vs Mavs (19-32) (Sat 2/7/26) [5:00PM CST] on Amazon Prime

Only bad thing about ST dying are the non-Spurs fans not migrating.

All that shit talk to have 0 championships to show for
Man, I tried to keep the feeling alive with my sig, but tbh I'd love to be dunking on Mono right now :st-lol: LakersFan also missed, which I wouldn't have imagined. A little contrarianism from non-Spurs fans in the forum was actually refreshing in hindsight - much better than contrarianism from Spurs fans themselves lol

Oh man, and that idiot Gambit.... I'm tempted to log back onto my ST account just to give a bump to that "Spurs have the worst future in their division" thread. How's that going now, eh? :st-drunk:

Mavs were smiling and laughing in the first quarter. Felt good to punch them in the mouth.

Castle is the perfect example of you’ve gotta believe in yourself more than anyone else. I’m sure since day 1 he believed he could drop a 40pt triple double. Gigantic props to him, what a memorable night for him and the team.

Carter Bryant coming out party! We are blessed. As we turn our eyes to the playoffs, all eyes are on CB in terms of our playoff upside. I loved how he didn’t back down from Marshall in that tiff, then proceeded to make it rain. He’s not playing scared.

Speaking of playoffs, and all the hype with Shaq and others. I am tempering my expectations. We have the talent, we have next to zero experience. Playoffs require discipline and proven execution. If we can win a playoff round, that’s a solid season for me. 2 rounds is mega.

Let’s go get that 1 seed!!!

Surely Mr batting 0.400 in the finals, team hopper, coach killer, backstabber manipulator passive aggressive effeminate manufactured “Star” lebum isn’t the next goat…

I think Wemby has it in him to win more than Jordan and make it undisputed, like Brady when he finally got 7 rings
The Michael Jordan brand, obviously the sneakers, the nostalgia of 90s basketball all that shit. It’s just impossible to wrestle that status away from him. I don’t think anybody’s ever going to do it. Being real as well 6-0 with 2 three-peats is awful tough to beat. Wemby could finish with 6 championships and 1 finals loss. Everybody will just point to the 1 loss.

IDC if he played an extra 10 min and padded his stats to 50. He deserved it. Matter of fact, let him come in with 30 second left in this game and dunk the ball on Dallas' head and pad an extra 2 points. Fuck em.
Completely irrelevant to my post. I don’t give a shit about stat-padding, so long as it doesn’t come at the expense of the team.

My post was defending his play, that he played within the game and his FG% only dipped below 50% because he took some immature shots. He played good, just wasn’t great - he did not play like shit.

Fantastic win and a game where our guard rotation massacred the Mavs after a wobbly 1st quarter. That was the first time I've seen this team really put it together. Admittedly, to misquote our internet predecessor, the Maps couldn't have stopped Ditka last night. Horrific defense aside, I don't think we know yet what we have as far as upside. It's clear where our weaknesses lie, but, the teamwork on display last night was a modern day blend of Showtime and the Beautiful Game. Seeing Wemby go with the flow the guards were setting was huge to me. It was also nice to see KJ and Champ have off games and that was inconsequential. Will be fun to see us take some of this to the Lakers on Tuesday and the Dubs on Wednesday.

Damn I picked an interesting game to miss. 40 12 12 eh BIG dawg

Coop -31 hot damn.

1998-2005 or 2006 maybe 2007? there was no spurs system/ beautiful basketball or spurs culture. It was just pound the ball to timmy in the post. Thats why tim was able to win 2 mvp’s. Ever since they started the system offense, spurs culture nobody in spurs uniform who actually close to win an mvp. Lmao. from 2007 up until now no mvp from silver and black.
lol, when did you start watching the Spurs making up some stupid shit like that?

11/12 Parker: 6th in MVP voting
12/13 Parker: 5th in MVP voting

15/16 Nephew: 2nd in MVP voting
16/17 Nephew: 3rd in MVP voting

Wemby right now: 4th in MVP ladder

I'd argue "Spurs culture" began with Timmy, and more specifically with Tony and Manu. That's when they started sacrificing for each other...giving Tony the keys of the offense, Manu coming off the bench, Parker's FMVP etc.

It culminated in The Beautiful Game and continued into the Kawhi/Aldridge years, but Tim Duncan WAS the culture and that didn't mean him putting up 30 shots a game so he could chase awards. The reason the Spurs haven't gotten many individual awards recently is because they've been a lottery team since Kawhi left and this is the first year they are back in contention.

Have no doubt that if Wemby manages to clear the 65-game mark, he WILL be in discussion for DPOY, All-NBA and All-Defense, maybe even MVP if the Spurs finish with a good enough record...all of this despite his so called "sacrifices" which you seem so hung out about.

It's kind of stupid that 6-0 in the Finals is considered this GOAT stat like it's somehow better Jordan shit the bed in the second round to Shaq and the Magic in 95 instead of making the Finals and then getting beaten by Hakeem and the Rockets. I can't hold LeBron losing to much better teams like the 07 Spurs, 14 Spurs, 17 Warriors, or 18 Warriors in the Finals against his legacy.

David Robinson brought the calm demeanor of Spurs Culture but you're correct, Tim Duncan IS Spurs Culture!

I think Lebron's GOAT case went down the drain when he took his talents to South Beach and only managed to go 2-2 in the finals.. And if NOT for Ray Allen it would have been 1 ring in 4 tries..
