Game Thread Spurs (25-11) vs Lakers (23-11) (Wed 01/07/26) [8:30PM CST] on ESPN

This rounds out a pretty good week or so of sports for me. Spurs beat the Lakers. Houston lost. Ohio State and Alabama lost. Texas Tech lost. And of course a couple weeks later I'm still pointing and laughing at Aggy. Just need the texans to win on Monday.
Need a Niners win Sunday myself tbh.

The thing I really want out of sports this year outside of the Texans or the Spurs going all the way is for Indiana to win it all. They are easy to root for. I mean they have literally never been anything at college football.

Trust me, I am very happy with the W. But there should never been a doubt. I like Devon, but there’s no way he is greater than James, Hachimura and Reaves. Should’ve been a 20 point win and it’s time our troops get serious about putting teams away that they are better than. I hope losing to the Jazz, Blazers and Grizz don’t come back to haunt us in seeding. Some of this mockery is due to Victor coming off the bench and bullshit minutes restriction. I expect better of our guards lately and I’m confident they will deliver. If we can just integrate Vic with the starting lineup and get some consistency there that would be a freaking start.

Rooting for Ole Miss myself tbh, if only to put Lane Kiffen on blast for not believing in his team.

lol Luka went from smile to frowning immediately after seeing the confrontation between Sochan and Vander

I get the sentiment, but I don't want Lane to get paid for those wins. I feel like Indiana is a better story. I like it that there are probably football fans there who have never been able to believe who are suddenly able to care about their team.... and not just care you are staring down a national championship. I know what that's like as a Texans fan and an Oilers fan.

It starts with defense, particularly perimeter defense. No one on defense should be collapsing when Wemby is on the court. Simple shit, really.

It's a 3-point-shooting league now.

one more particularly brutal stretch of schedule coming up, and then for the rest of the year it is pretty palatable

at boston and at minnesota back to back
at okc
vs milwaukee (have been solid since giannis has been back)
vs minnesota
then back to back against utah and at houston

if we are still 2nd in the west after this 7 game stretch, have to feel good about holding it
Sadly we had too many bad losses since Christmas..Hard to see us navigate this stretch and stay second after that...I would be happy with 4-3 (W/L) there.

Wow how bad the Lakers as a team played the spurs shot 16% from 3 and still got smoked this is another game proving a trade needs to happen for some shooting
