Game Thread Spurs (24-9) @ Pacers (6-28) (Fri 01/02/26) [6:00 PM CDT]

Unless they trade for a legit starting PF/more shooting? Yes.
So this team who is 2nd in the West, that has been riddled with injuries, with the first real season that Fox and Wemby together are just losing a playoff series to a 7th seed?

Clips are old and have no frontcourt outside of Zubac. The 2 GSW games took absolutely nuclear games from Steph and unreliable shooting from Butler and GP for them to win plus questionable foul calls. Warriors and Clippers are shooting the 3 at 36.4% and 36.3% (12th and 14th in the league) with us not far behind at 16th on 35.8% shooting.

We have multiple defenders to throw at Steph, Kawhi, Harden. We’re more athletic, quicker etc.

I don’t expect a title from the Spurs. A WCF would be low chances but you guys saying 1st round exit are just tiring to see at this point.

Sounds like Rocket fan logic last season tbh.

You’re just a defeatist, I get it. At least argue the point. Would be much worthwhile than slitting wrists endlessly.
The playoffs are a much different environment from the regular season, we know this. Spurs could surprise and just be that ready, but they have rebounding and three point shooting issues that can be exploited by a veteran team in a series. Obviously we have to wait on the Clips after their garbage play most of the season, but coming in most everyone thought they were a contender (took a miracle Aaron Gordon dunk for Denver to beat them last season). Curry can absolutely go nuclear for a series and their roleplayers are more experienced and will hit shots at home.

Honestly like the Spurs' chances in a series against Minny or Houston as opposed to the Dubs and Clips if they get in tbh.

Honestly, Robz isn't wrong on his analysis. Suns/Warriors/Clippers actually scare me more than playing teams like the Lakers/Rockets.

But I do frown on posters that feel the need to always downplay our team and act like our weaknesses outweigh our strengths. One of the things about the ST culture is that the Mavs/Lakers fans over there would make fun of us for having homer takes so naturally everyone became pessimistic and cynical in their fandom. Glad there's so much less of that here and we can just support our team, even if we sound like homers sometimes.

Don't discount Lunch Lady in a playoff environment... he'll deliver a big moment or two for you*

*Get the other team's star player ejected by starting a fight with him
Like Kupchack getting Akeem tossed in Game 5 of the 86 WCF. Didn't do any good for them since Sampson hit that crazy buzzer beater though.

Of those only the Warriors would scare me anywhere near as much as the Rockets or Lakers in a series just because Steph kinda owns Wemby. Luka's a monster though and Houston has a team I think is built for the playoffs this year.

They'd absolutely lose a series to the Dubs and maybe the Clips (if they make it in). We'll see on the Suns but any team that can shoot at a high level from three is a bad matchup tbh.
The Suns lol. Damn have a little faith brother. It’s not like it’s April right now. We don’t know where this team will be in a few months? If they stay healthy, they can definitely make it to the conference final. But it’s all about the big guy being able to stay on the floor honestly.

We have the same record as the Eastern Leader Pistons at 25-9

who would have thought at the beginning of the season that we are in this position........?
