Game Thread Spurs (23-7) vs Jazz (10-19) (Sat 12/27/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

Meh…
It happens…

Spurs emotionally drained and still have growing pains…sometimes a team comes in with nothing to lose…
Nothing on the line, and they just catch a team going thru the motions believing they can just turn it on in the second half…

And fail to do the work and when they get down to “working” …the other team is already rolling…

Id still take those okc wins over this unfortunate loss…

Just the price you pay when you invest everything to beat the best and accomplish something great…and then you crash down to earth a little.

Its not the doom/gloom you cliff jumpers are panicking about…

This wasn't a "opponent got hot, we move on" loss, it was just more of the same from Spurs awful 3pt defense.
And we had no interest in adjusting from that awful drop coverage which was the reason for their run in the first half.
tbh, we probably lose the last game to okc if Caruso wasn't throwing up brick after brick. he was wide open all night

Nah no doom and gloom but defensive effort needs to be much higher going forward.

Some nights you can't shoot for shit but no excuse to be giving the other team practice shots from the three point line all night. With any defensive effort whatsoever this would have probably still been a win.

I’ll be a sniffer and say “it’s only December”. Tough loss and I’m not convinced the Spurs will win the title this year anyway but the over the top proclamations when the season isn’t even close to over are so weak.

It’s not like every other west team doesn’t get bad losses from time to time.
The reality is that match-ups are key in this league and the Spurs having OKC's number doesn't mean they have other teams'.

SUN routed us for ex

I wish the FO would accelerate and trade for a forward tho, we need size and shooting asap

If Mitch wants to play Sochan, it probably can't be alongside Waters and CB too. That costly lineup sparked the Jazz into a wildfire. Spurs played sluggish but credit Jazz for pushing effort and knocking down shots. Hats off to Clayton Jr and Key + Lauri looked great for the Jazz.

It's the reason for our struggles against bad teams. I know we won those games, but most were ugly because the only way bad teams beat you is from 3pt.
And why we lost against the Warriors.

If we're to seriously compete, we'll need multiple defensive schemes, can't play drop coverage against elite shooting teams.

Also, ignoring Kornet for the entire third quarter while he was constantly wide open was awful.

OKC probably gonna start another 15 straight wins. But I don't think we should chase the 1st seed.

Jazz were on some bullshit shooting tonight tbh and it wasn't only open shots at all. Lauri is an incredible shooter at his size, and was on fire, he was flying off screens into contested 3pt shots and nailing them.

Just one of those nights for a young team without its main vet

yeah already established we can win in OKC. i know the goal is always to win chip, but getting to 2nd round would be a great season. weve made a big jump just hope injuries dont continue to plague us

MIN lost to BKN tonight and DEN to ORL.

To your point…

On another note, watching the Mitch presser, I like what he's said about the team's shortcomings and focusing on the many areas of improvement still left. He's got the right mindset, at least.

Didn't hear anybody ask him about the Sochan minutes :st-lol:

Hawks lost to NY. DEN and MIN lost as well. If only we could win but at least still not too bad

Lauri was decently contested, but we gave no respect to their other shooters.
