That was the best Spurs Team that didn't win a championship. They were destroying teams until the refs got involved in the OKC series. How a teams that comes from winning 20 games in a row, lost 4 in a row?

Completely agreed. 2016 and 2006 were close, I guess. In 2006, the Spurs had an answer for everyone except Dirk.

People forget just how dominant the late-spring 2012 Spurs were. It was a 66 game season and the Spurs started out a very pedestrian 12-9 just like the 2002-03 title season. Then they finished the year 38-7 and 10-0. Back to back to back games really toughened this team up and made guys like Kawhi and LDN grow up fast on both ends of the court. They went from getting killed by the Lakers to killing the Lakers. They were dominant on defense and fun as hell to watch on offense. The young wings barely let anyone score on them. They had the perfect blend of experience and young talent. They dominated the first two series like the 2001 Lakers.

The 2013 Spurs were solid, but they were a Manu three vs GSW away from being down 3-1 to the Warriors and a streaky young Steph Curry in round 2. The 2014 Spurs were embarrassingly close to outright losing the series to a pretty bad Dallas team in round 1.

Was debating who to root for seeding purposes and decided Denver tbh. They have a lot of injuries going forward so will more than likely drop some games. Spurs are 2 up on Denver essentially right now anyway.

Exactly. Wemby being out may have indirectly taught the team to play better perimeter defense.

As long as they maintain the same hustle, with Wemby when he returns, this team will be a defensive force.

So it was game 1. I had forgotten which game it was, but I know my eyes did not deceive me. It just seemed there were alot of phantom BS calls, etc, that
went the Warriors' way that game.

Then Steph goes radio-active, as you mentioned, the next one. And of course Golden State comes crashing back down to earth soon after our meetings this season.

I just love the psyche of this squad right now. Everyone was acting like the Thunder were unbeatable, and they went in with the mindset of "we can hang with anybody" and now it looks like they own the Thunder.

I think it was Castle who said "it's good to keep us sharp" like they are using them as fucking practice. Cold blooded.

I mean, I've said that I think the Spurs are iron sharpening iron whenever they get to practice against each other. Steph gets to go against Vic, De'Aaron, Dylan, Devin etc. in practice. De'Aaron gets to go against Victor, Steph, Dylan, Devin etc. in practice.
These guys, during the preseason and any practice time they get, they're going against each other and the Spurs have got some very high level guys in that locker room to go against and get better themselves from just going at each other, so when they play these games, they're not intimidated by anyone.

BTW, Jokic another freaking monster game. Maybe Vic was too early to say Jokic isn't the best player in the NBA. I'd still put Jokic ahead of Shai personally with the top three being similar to what Victor said Jokic, Giannis, Shai etc., but still, Jokic is definitely in the running for best player in the NBA.

Yup. Learning to close games is part of the growth process for a young team though. Trial by fire. We're already improving in that regard tbh, but still lots of room for improvement obv.

This team is a tough shot team. The concept is attacking. Going to the rim and if the shot isn't there moving the ball and looking for a better shot. Then attacking again. When they are not doing that they are moving Shooters into mid-range places where they are comfortable making shots. At first I did not think it was by Design but the more I watch it the more I feel it definitely is. The concept of the offense is completely and totally opportunistic. It's a complete move away from isolation offenses we have seen in the past for so long during this era in basketball where one player controls with offense does.

Heat are running a similar motion offense, it's just that they don't have anywhere near the talent we do. There's a good Thinking Basketball video about it.
The ballhandler starts attacking the paint and everyone else moves accordingly to space the floor. No need to call specific plays, everyone knows where they should be going based on ballhandler's direction.


Also, it just dawned on me that Spurs have the best supporting cast in the league.
Take the best player away from each team and we win with ease.
Take the two best players away from each team and we still win with ease.

All we need to do is for Wemby to get healthy and back into his usual role and the league is completely fucked, tbh.

What is crazy is that Jokic's game is so unathletic and he is so durable and injury-free that he can keep posting this kind of insane numbers until he is 40 years old tbh.

Yea, I am quite surprised that Grandpa Barnes and KJ were attacking Chet like crazy. These 2 must have practice going against Wemby a lot in the practice and now has the confidence that if they can go against Wemby in practice, they can go against any shot blocker in the league.
