Game Thread Spurs (22-7) vs Thunder (26-4) (Thu 12/25/25) [1:30 PM CDT]

Which one of you is this tbh.

Spurs are guaranteed winning matchup records against the Hawks, Wizards, Pelicans, and yes the Thunder. Pretty wild when they still haven’t even played a lot of teams yet.

Man... Dort going after Wemby's knees is some BS
Unfortunately it’s going to keep happening for his entire career because 1) players are envious, 2) players sink to lows to try to win, 3) with legs as twiggy as his, it gives players ideas that it will be easy to injure him, 4) there’s nothing Silver can do to enforce it no matter how much we joke that he’ll want to protect his golden child.

You just have to hope none of them result into an injury.

I picked us as a 3rd seed and like 56 wins during the preseason. If they continue playing like this, they could be the overall 1 seed.

Oh, there is absolutely a few things that silver can do;

1) He can advise every organization to submit tapes when they witness these intentional acts to commit injury...
2) He can call in all the refs and show them these tapes and instruct them to immediately eject any player the refs themselves witness
3) He can institute a policy of 1 or 2 or max-3 incidents and you get the rest of a season off w/o pay
4) He can make goddamn sure these types of players like Dort and draymond and podzemic understand without question
that there will be a severe price to pay...

The Loser Dirt antics are cheap but lol at thinking Silver will go through all that. Don’t forget we also had Bruce Bowen and his ninja kicks back then.

It going to keep happening with Dort until he suspended. MJ needs to lodge a serious complaint.

Richard Jefferson also picked Chet haha

RJ was bias as he used his own experience for comparison. RJ was a rookie coming into the top Eastern conference team (NJ nets) and he felt that there was more pressure on him as any mistakes would be costly to his team playing for the title. Whereas RJ felt that Vic is in a no pressure environment and able to play more freely as the team is bad and lottery bound.

Glad there is at least one other person that remembers those series a similar way I do. Anytime I think of those two series, I think of all that shit. Game 5 in 2012 we were also screwed over on the clear as day Ibaka goaltend on Manu's layup deep in the game. The ball was blocked off of the glass, and while Manu's laying on the ground, the Thunder get the ball up court to James Harden on the right side who then hits a three and Manu fouls him scrambling to get back into the play for the 3 And 1 huge momentum shift. That was an egregious call as even the replay showed it's a clear goal tend. Swung the momentum of the game and series as I believe that swing in the game cost the Spurs game 5. Fuck OKC and all the BS help they got from the refs those two series. Game 6 in 2012, the fourth quarter was touch foul after touch foul and the Thunder were in the bonus so early in the 4th quarter. You look at the final stats and it doesn't look that bad, but the Thunder got all those ticky-tacky calls in the second half (mostly the 4th quarter) after being down by over 20 points at home., but that is how you can manipulate the games by making calls for the home team at the end of the game to even it out. The games were manipulated.

This series is one of the most believable conspiracy theory of the NBA pushing for a team, LBJ already humiliated a year prior (and quit on his team) and no way the league was letting the savvy and veterans Spurs in the Finals rather that the inexperienced kids from Okc.

And oh surprise it's what made the difference in the Finals

Even a LBJ employee like Gilbert Arenas confirmed it in a pod.

Spurs were a juggernaut, finishing the season on a 10-0 run and starting the POs 10-0

Still pissed to this day

I know we won today.

But the amount of open looks we have given them
On 3’s today is quite underwhelming.

They didn’t hit majority of them, but they got really good looks than us.

We made tough shots. They missed easy shots. We messed up their head.
That's fine. If okc are choosing to run with players who are meant to win them games on the defensive end (Caruso, Wallace) then they pay the price with below average conversion on open 3s. And to be fair, our guys always recovered sufficiently on defensive rotations to contest.. Even if it's not a block it's enough to put off a B-grade shooter

When you have a dislike towards a certain person or thing (like Sochan and now the Thunder), you really go 200% with the hate. Never seen anything like it.

what rock were you living under in the 2000s re: the Lakers?

Basically what has happened is Mitch has seen what Oklahoma City has done and taken his group of players and made it better. We worried so much about the ball handlers but he has turned it into a juggernaut of attacking players that no one has an answer for. Anything you can do I can do better. And we are doing it better.

Yeah, except Harrison Barnes is such a misfit in that regard. He's better than Sochan, but that's about it. That's definitely a position to upgrade by trade deadline.

That was the best Spurs Team that didn't win a championship. They were destroying teams until the refs got involved in the OKC series. How a teams that comes from winning 20 games in a row, lost 4 in a row?

I’m still in disbelief that we were able to beat these guys three times in a row. And still trying to make sense of what it means for this year. Wow!
I just love the psyche of this squad right now. Everyone was acting like the Thunder were unbeatable, and they went in with the mindset of "we can hang with anybody" and now it looks like they own the Thunder.

I think it was Castle who said "it's good to keep us sharp" like they are using them as fucking practice. Cold blooded.
