Game Thread Spurs (1-0) @ Pelicans (0-1) (Fri 10/24/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

Wemby with almost triple-double with 9 blks playing B level, damn
He had 10. They missed 1, even showed it on the broadcast.

His ceiling is best player in the world. Tonight he struggled on how to attack doubles and how to attack zones, and the rest of the team struggled getting in the positions to give him options. He also swatted at the ball too much picking up a few chesp fouls when he could have been more in control.

I think a solid B is right. Good performance but a full level below his ceiling.

Has Wemby ever thought instead of swatting the ball 20 rows up but he could block the shots gently and potentially grabbing possession?

Sure but if we can't replicate this night in & night out, that's not our true level.
I don't think anyone would say Wednesday was the Spurs true level. Can't expect Victor to have the best game of his life every night.

I'm still sold on this as a 50 win team. Wemby alone makes it a playoff team. Fox will steady a lot of this shit we saw tonight.
You may be right. But I'm going to give it a few games before I feel comfortable saying that, especially since we looked like the 2024 Spurs shooting from the perimeter tonight and we're an atrocious FT shooting team.

This team is winning 50. Victor with another ridiculous game despite some extremely aggressive doubles and triples.
I'm still convinced we're getting to the playoffs, but I don't think we're winning any series with what I saw tonight. You can't have almost the whole team melt down in money time like that.

Tonight, turnovers were almost our undoing. Also, our FT shooting is pitiful.

The officiating so far this season is pure trash. Wemby was living in the paint, yet got minimal FT attempts. Meanwhile, Zion was a bull in a china shop and allowed to shoot tons of FTs.

We won a hard fought game, with our franchise trapped on the bench and Castle building a new arena with his FTs.

GO SPURS GO

Played sloppy, on the road. Foul trouble. Manage to win. We have to win those if we are going to the playoffs. So this is a good start.

Can we even talk about trap games after one good win?
For all the potential this team has, they haven't achieved anything.
Get to at least 5 more wins than losses and then we can talk about our guys getting ahead of themselves.
I’d call it a trap game simply because of the way they won in Dallas. They were so dominant people were in awe watching. Fortunately, they got the W tonight.

Castle is going to have to hit at least 75% of his FT’s. I think his mechanics look fine but after a couple more games shooting 50% then it is time to panic. Yes, he did have 9 turnovers, which is ridiculous. However, Cade had 8 TO’s vs the Rockets. There’ll be some good tape for Mitch to go over on this and he will learn. I thought he played pretty decent overall and he made a couple clutch threes.

Most everyone except Vassell were crap from deep tonight. Julian was horrific. Glad to see him hit one down the stretch. The Spurs definitely did not play great but I’ll take a ugly win over a good loss….😂

Fox should cure a lot of that. As for winning a series, that's a whole different ballgame when my expectation is a first round series against someone like Houston or Minnesota after pulling the 4 or 5 seed.

Fox will be tbe 2nd most important player on the team this season.

I know its been almost a decade, but we all remember the playoffs. Almost every game comes down 5 minutes left, you're somewhere within +- 8pts on the scoreboard, and you have to lock down and get the win. That's when Manu would take over. TP and Duncan would take over. And role players would step up to play their role in wins.

Fox is going to be the last 5 min facilitator along with Wemby. Castle will play off the ball. That's the best position for everyone.
