Game Thread Spurs (1-0) @ Pelicans (0-1) (Fri 10/24/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

They got a professional win.

On the road. Playing C level basketball. Castle having a bad game, Wemby playing B level, poor shooting, but found a way to come back in the 4th and win in OT without Wemby.

The need for Fox in close games late is glaring though. Castle and Harper aren't yet ready to be the guy at point in those situations.
Wemby with almost triple-double with 9 blks playing B level, damn

Kornet was such a great fucking signing. Kept the Spurs in the game with 9 offensive boards and playing D on Zion. Probably the most impactful player outside of Wemby.
9 offensive rebounds is obscene.

I was watching the Pel's telecast and one announcer kept saying they needed to "go at" Kornet, as if he was some sort of weak link defensively. Guy needs to read the scouting reports better. But this could be a huge advantage for the Spurs throughout the season-- teams thinking they must attack Kornet when Wemby is out, instead of relying on smart ball movement.

Ugly early season road wins are nice.

Korndog following his missed free throw and hammering the dunk home was my vote for play of the game.

Good news: Spurs somehow found a way to win this game in OT without Wemby, even if it was a disgusting display of basketball. This is a game they most likely lose last season.

Bad news: This roster still sucks tbh. Too many poor shooters and poor defenders. Any team that plays Vassell, Keldon, Champagnie, and Barnes meaningful minutes will never compete for anything in this league. Ever.

Ugly ugly game, but hey, started out 2-0 on the road. Winning these kinds of games always impacts playoff seeding way down the road so I’ll take it.

Also, anyone questioning if Fox is redundant or not necessary for this team this game serves as exhibit A for why we need him healthy asap.

Yeah, looks like it was more them sucking than us being that great. Let's hope we play better next game anyway.
the team hang in there and stopped a home team in OT. I’d take a close game, good learning experience to a young team

I’m officially worried that Barnes has regressed. Team is way too lob happy as well, turnovers just piling up.

That's Antonio Daniels. He kept talking about trying to foul out our players the whole game, even though he used to be a Spur. Sure, you work for the Pelicans, it's OK to root for them, but asking for bitch tactics like that is bullshit imho. You're a fucking tool man.

It’s early but this is a playoff team
We'll see. I'm still not sold given how young and poorly constructed our roster is tbh. It's a long season so well what it looks like after the first 20 games or so. If we do make the Playoffs, we'll definitely be knocked out in the First Round tbh.

Wow Pistons took down the Rockets in H-Town despite 37 from Durant. Can't laugh though because Cade has become a bad motherfucker.

Yup Fox would give that go-to scorer instead of Vassell. Good thing Vassell delivered but a big whew :st-lol:

I'm still sold on this as a 50 win team. Wemby alone makes it a playoff team. Fox will steady a lot of this shit we saw tonight.
