Game Thread Spurs (1-0) @ Pelicans (0-1) (Fri 10/24/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

Totally different game. Opening night excitement is gone. New Orleans hat no big frontcourt like Dallas and they looked solid against Memphis. Now Victor has to show he wants to be awesome EVERY night.
The rest of the team will follow.

:st-flag: :st-flag: :st-flag:

I was not going to expect another game like last one, but you're right, if Victor wants to be the greatest, he's going to have to try and play good/great every night. Really, I don't care about him having otherworldly performances every game, I just want to win the game. I'd be happy with him playing a good game and getting the win/s.

I hope Mitch give CB a try in guarding Zion. Height, strength, speed wise, I think CB would be the best option considering that Sochan is out

No. To early for him to be bulldozered by him and lose confidence.
If Bryant gets his confidence broken by one night of being physically overmatched sometimes, he isn't going to make it in the NBA. Barnes, Castle and Keldon are all going to take their turns getting beat up too, so he'll be among friends. He just has to get beat in a way that allows Wemby to help.

I expect Wemby to come back down to earth a bit tomorrow night sadly. Would love to be wrong of course, but it'll be hard to duplicate that kind of performance. Looking forward to some of the matchups on the perimeter though and hopefully we can contain Zion this time around. A 2-0 start to the season with the Nets on deck would be groovy. GSG.
I think he will still get 30pts as long as he keeps attacking the rim , get yo the freethrow line and take 20+ shots.

That was Timmy through and through. Consistency from October all the way to June.

It could be a December game against the Wizards and Timmy is putting up 20pts, 14reb, 1 TO game in 27 minutes helping the spurs to a blowout win. Nothing glamorous but he was a machine. And we expected that day in and day out.

Hopefully Wemby can become that. I'm encouraged by his double digit rebounding effort. I truly hope that continues.

Yep this game tonight is going to give us a better idea how sustainable what we've seen the other night is. Every game has their own story, but I certainly hope Victor relishes his new powers and wants to make that shit a permanent thing. You raised your floor man, we're expecting even more from you now.

New Orleans was so close to turning the corner and being a legit team, and now they're almost starting over again. Herb Jones had a great first game, finishing with 17 pts, 9 rebs, 3 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, & +11. Love him as a player, but feel bad that he'll likely be stuck on a mediocre team as he approaches his prime.

I sure as hell hope Spurs at least called Dumars about him. You never know with New Orleans, you might be able to pry him away for a package centered around Vassell and/or Sochan.

Yeah, he's the ultimate role player for a team that has an established hierarchy in terms of scoring, and he'll never complain about getting enough shots or need to be persuaded/coached to focus on D.

New Orleans got a super talented, stratospheric upside player from the American AAU system. We got a super talented, stratospheric upside player from the European pipeline.

Yeah, at this point I think Zion might be this generation's Pistol Pete... fun to watch and obviously talented (when healthy of course) but not exactly piling up the wins or playoff appearances.

Another chance for Wemby to have a monster game due to the Pelican injuries.
