Player Sochan's Extension Watch

That Camera extension is good barometer. Eason gets that money, but Sochan, at present, is a step below both in my view.

Should be Toumani Camara > Tari Eason >> Jeremy Sochan

Talks between the Nuggets and Braun’s representative, Bill Duffy of WME Sports, have centered on a five-year deal in the $115-125 million range, league sources told HoopsHype.

Reigning NBA Most Improved Player, All-Defensive First Team selection, and steals champion Dyson Daniels and agent Daniel Moldovan have been seeking a five-year, $150 million deal during extension negotiations with the Atlanta Hawks, league sources told HoopsHype.

However, the Hawks have been closer to a ballpark range of five years, $115 million, during negotiations, league sources told HoopsHype.

Honestly, there should be changes in the FO if they hand Sochan anywhere near 20 million. Significant ones.

"but but... all those guys with clear paths to big/starting roles who have only gotten better as more has been put on their plate are getting paid! i should get just slightly less than them!"

If I lock this thread, will that prevent the Spurs from doing something stupid in the next 3 hours?

while MATFO should feel bad that they had 3 first round picks in 2022 and not a single one will have signed an extension, extending sochan when his role and development trajectory being this unclear would just be another blunder and a reckless gamble

only scenario i'd extend jeremy is if he just decides that rather than trying to stretch for every dollar, he just wants to attach his career to the teet of Wemby and takes a massive discount in line with a projected bench role. the type of deal that would make sense for the spurs is the type of the deal that simply wouldnt be wise for jeremy to accept from a bottom line perspective

damn you fucked up. they have 4 hours. now if they sign him within that final hour its your fault

I thought the deadline was 5p ET? Did ya'll mainlanders go and do something crazy like change your clocks again?

Indeed... I know see that it's 6P ET.

(But for real... does locking the thread have the effect of locking Brian Wright out of his office?)

NBA really needs to start operating based on HST, tbh

Jesus, how many extra hours do you want to give Suckhan?
I get that some people on here - and formerly on SpursTalk - have a hate boner for Sochan, but his early career numbers are comparable to - if not better than - Aaron Gordon.

I get the team needs more shooting and spacing, especially since the three main guards are all slashers, but they also need role players, defenders and guys that don't need the ball on offense.

I want to see if Jeremy can finally improve his shooting, yet his continued improvement in other areas (cutting, finishing, rebounding & team defense) are just as vital.

5/125 for Braun
Wow!

I'm surprised that Denver paid up since it looked like they wanted to get out of paying the luxury tax.

They got a win another title in the next two years since I don't see that core (Jokic, Murray, Gordon & Braun) remaining together much longer.

His ceiling may not be high, but he was useful in the playoffs the past few seasons. On Sochan, it'd be similar to the Sharpe deal in Portland. You're betting on something to come without any real evidence of past performance. The ceiling might be higher, but the floor is a bust.

Welcome back! Been wondering where you've been!

I assume you've been in your own Forum Training Camp, getting sharp for the start of the regular season :)

I've been lurking around here just waiting on the season. I'm very happy this board came to be!

What does Sochan’s agent say if Spurs said we have a 2 year offer… ?

4/100 for dyson daniels. less than i thought he'd get
Spurs should learn a thing or two from how hard Atlanta negotiates with their own players (Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, Dejounte, Okongwu, even Trae Young). I have a feeling Spurs are trying to be too agreeable and it's backfiring.
