I give up for now. Chrome is a little better in that I can use message formatting options, but still cannot upload a screenshot from my desktop. Edge is just fine.
I’m not sure what option is needed either.I give up for now. Chrome is a little better in that I can use message formatting options, but still cannot upload a screenshot from my desktop. Edge is just fine.
Might I suggest we just turn this option on (for photos only) and see what our usage looks like for the month? I don’t think it will bump us over 50 GBMaybe we need to troubleshoot a little bit. I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing, but you should be able to drag and drop an image file into a message, and I think it will automatically embed it if it's a accepted file type. What is the file extension/type you are trying to upload? I could be looking at this incorrectly. If it's a video file, those are currently blocked. Yeah, might need to bring the ringer for this.
FYI, @scott , the amount of storage used is only displayed with the login used to manage the payment method, and it's not found within the site's admin panel (insert John Travolta "what?" gif). Currently we are consuming less than 2% of our 50GB allocation (853 MB). Must have some nice compression and deduplication processes running.
Two other forums I'm a member at have it set to 2mb and it seems to work well for them. I'm a member at one that has a limit of 1mb and its a pain in the ass to constantly be resizing images etc. So I think 2mb is pretty solid.I think as long as we keep the image size limit appropriately small, and people understand we'll probably want to purge old images from time to time, it should be ok. Let's say we make images max 2MB to support at least most modern phone screenshots and most reasonable GIFs, and we assign 5GB of our 50GB to images (10%), still lets us have at least a couple thousand images uploaded before purging, probably much more.
Would also just want to allow jpg, png, or gif.
It's all very configurable luckily in Xenforo, so if we all want to give it a whirl, we can. If it turns out it's bloated out of control, then we can always just purge and go back to external uploads only.
@Guru of Nothing or @scott would be helpful to check what our current hosting size is, you can do that via cPanel in your domain host under disk usage. I don't have any sense of how xenforo stores data in the bg, so I'm really just guessing here.
Apparently the usage stats are only available in the payments panel for some odd reason, which only @Guru of Nothing has access to. He mentioned we were at around 800 MB, so less than 2% of our allowed usage - but that was yesterday and I'm not sure if we go by calendar months or anniversary date months... so it might be worth seeing what our average usage is over a full 30 day period?I think as long as we keep the image size limit appropriately small, and people understand we'll probably want to purge old images from time to time, it should be ok. Let's do it!Unless anyone is opposed to it, shall we turn it on and see what happens? Again, we can always just purge images if it gets outta hand.

Yeah that sounds way cooler and more relevant to the current SpursShould we change the forum tagline, "The No 1 destination for Spurs fans from across the globe." ...too?
The Home of Pure & Ethical Basketball is pretty catchy, and let's be real, the internet needs a place for lovers of pure and ethical basketball.
