Hello there, very happy with the forum overall

I was just wondering, is it me or are there regularly timeouts, especially during games? I literally can't use the forum at all during games and even outside of them, the forum times out a lot.

Btw I understand bandwidth costs money, this is not a diss, just curious if it's just me or not. (I'm in Europe btw)
I haven’t experienced this at all.

I'm in Argentina and I haven't experienced this so far.

I think it's lost forever... I don't see anyway to get any details on it

Are we allowed to recreate it?

Don't even know why it was deleted in the first place.
Yeah of course. I don't know why or how it got deleted, unless I accidently merged it with another thread.

From my Chat Buddy:

XenForo does not have a true “unmerge” button.
Once you merge threads, all posts become a single chronological stream under one thread ID. After that happens:

  • The original thread IDs are gone
  • The post order is rewritten
  • Quoting, pagination, and internal links all get recalculated
  • Any later replies land in the merged thread, mixing everything further
You can manually split posts back out into a new thread, but that is not an “unmerge” — it’s a selective split, and it’s messy because:

  • You must manually choose which posts to move
  • The old thread structure cannot be automatically reconstructed
  • Users will see quotes pointing to posts that may now be in different threads
  • Chronology of discussion is already scrambled
Common practice among XenForo admins:
A merge is considered final unless done accidentally and caught immediately before anyone replies.

If you think you might need to reverse a merge, the usual pattern is:

  • Merge only when truly necessary
  • Leave a moderator note in the action log
  • Don’t merge large/active threads unless you’re 100% sure
  • If undone, do it immediately by splitting off posts that don’t belong
If you ever need help untangling a bad merge, I can walk you through a clean “triage and split” process.

I think this is a very valid request, I'd only ask that we table it for now and re-address it once we have some other projects under our belt. For now, I'd say let's put it on the roadmap to explore and get a true feel for what the cost might be, and revisit this by the end of November, if that is okay with everyone?

Right now one of my main curiosities that makes me not want to do too much before we have answer is about the site traffic once the season starts. I want to get a hold of that before committing to anything specific, personally.
Can we revisit the ability to copy/paste pics, screenshots etc. So that we don’t need to host images elsewhere.

I have no clue what it costs but if it’s not astronomical I’d be interested in paying for this feature myself or raising the money myself independently. I can probably get that cost covered for at least a couple years. So we don’t need to raise money from the forum.

I think the ability to easily copy/paste pics is a nice quality of life feature.

Let me know what you think.

I'll need to tag our resident tech guru @ffadicted as I'm not sure how to go about estimating the potential cost for this

Odd thing going on where the site can’t load if I use my wifi at home (wifi is working) but works fine if i turn off wifi on my phone and use data.

I'll take a look at a couple of things. As far as cost goes, there is no extra cost, per se, but rather we are in the starter tier, which comes with 50 GB of storage. There's a price jump if we go to the next tier. The relevant question I suppose is, how much of our 50G are we using (or, when wil we cross the threshold?), so let me find that out first. It should be easy to make some storage requirment guestimates now that we have about 3 months of steady activity.

Thanks. I figured it would bump us a tier and I think I can absorb that cost myself.

Maybe we need to troubleshoot a little bit. I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing, but you should be able to drag and drop an image file into a message, and I think it will automatically embed it if it's a accepted file type. What is the file extension/type you are trying to upload? I could be looking at this incorrectly. If it's a video file, those are currently blocked. Yeah, might need to bring the ringer for this.

FYI, @scott , the amount of storage used is only displayed with the login used to manage the payment method, and it's not found within the site's admin panel (insert John Travolta "what?" gif). Currently we are consuming less than 2% of our 50GB allocation (853 MB). Must have some nice compression and deduplication processes running.

It's worth mentioning that I use Chrome at home and at work, and on my home browser I have several issues withh the bells and whistles. All the formatting options are greyed out.

Lo and behold, Edge is fine. So, me personally, I've got an issue with only one instance of Chrome ... Even if I switch back to the default skin. I'll probably be clearing the cachhe on my browser.
