True, but I would say the silver lining would be that he's naturally very advanced in his understanding of how to play. He just needs to understand how to play within the hierarchy and the game plan.

Well this at least gives the spurs a good excuse to have him come off the bench to start the season.

Real intricate plot by the Spurs to have Harper come off the bench but hey whatever works.

Definitely not ideal for Harper to miss training camp, which is more important than a couple games to start the season imo. With the Spurs being extra cautious about injuries, I could see him missing more games than expected. At least he should be able to do some cardio to stay in shape. Maybe after a few weeks work on that right hand.

Found this on reddit:

Did a small search on similar injuries that have happened in the NBA, as reported by Shams Charania its feared that Embiid has a torn ligament in his thumb. Torn ligaments in your thumb seems to be a common injury among NBA players, I guess some will lead to more pain and discomfort than others, but here is what I found.

  • Chris Paul(January 16, 2017): Had surgery, Missed 14 games in 37 days
  • Marcus Smart(March 11, 2018): Had surgery, Missed 19 games in 43 days
  • Kevin Love(April 18, 2018): Partially Torn Ligament during the playoffs, didnt miss any time and played through it. non-shooting hand
  • Spencer Dinwiddie(January 23, 2019): Had surgery, missed 14 games in 38 days
  • Kyle Lowry (May 12, 2019): Torn ligament during game 7 vs Sixers, played through the playoffs, won the championship. Had surgery afterwards. non-shooting hand
  • Josh Hart (April 1, 2021): Had surgery, Missed 25 games and was out for the season
  • Talen Horton-Tucker(October 11, 2021): Had surgery, Missed 11 games in 33 days
  • Zach Lavine(October 27, 2021): Torn Ligament in non-shooting hand, played through it
  • Bam Adebayo(December 1, 2021): Had surgery, Missed 22 games in 47 days
  • Jerami Grant(December 10, 2021): Had surgery, Missed 24 games in 50 days

October 22 would be 47 days after the surgery.

Damn. Not the smooth rookie season rollout you want to see. I guess Harper will ease his way into the rotation throughout the early part of the year.

Well that sucks. lol

I think I gave myself a hairline fracture on my thumb a few years ago. It was the weekend, met some girl, exchanged snaps and whatnot. Didn't think much of it. Got home, made a drink, and started doing the dishes. lol Fucking chick hits me up if she can come over. Gave her my address, and started trying to finish the dishes in chingas. Got water on the floor. She rings the doorbell, and when I walk away from the sink, I freaking slipped and landed with my right hand catching me but then my thumb went straight into the toe kick of my countertop. LMAOO

I got laid that night, but couldn't use my right hand for a few weeks. lol

man that sucks, summer and training camp are very important for rookies to get acclimated. It's not the end of the world but it is a step back

it'd be great if he'd be able to get back with about a week to go before the first game. but this is when having 'too many guards' is a good problem to have.

BYU is in the Maui invitational this year, so I'll be bringing you an early AJ scouting report. Looking forward to it.
