Player Shams: Dylan Harper Undergoes Surgical Procedure to Repair Partially-Torn Ligament in Left Thumb

The first association that came to my mind when reading Kickstand was the Soundgarden song from "Superunknown":

This is what the brace he was wearing looked like back in early September.

He went from not being able to dribble yesterday to dunking today. It's a medical miracle!

That pic of him dunking from today or earlier this month during the informal workouts?

Yeah, could be, I just noticed in another video of him from training camp still wearing a brace.

In the video released today of day 1 Castle was attired differently. Dunk must be from a couple weeks ago i'm guessing.

Not only that, but that he is expected to see some preseason action before then. Interesting development, they must like how he looks so far and feel like the chance to re-injure is small.

I mean Fox played most of last year with a way worse finger injury so not really worried about Harper missing any time that matters. Spurs being overly cautious as usual.

Spurs aren't going to play their 19 year old no. 2 pick a minute before they feel he's 100% ready. May that be the first game? Perhaps. But not because of any game mattering.

pinky vs thumb though

Noice. Will be a good matchup with Flagg on opening night.

Didn’t notice anything on Dylan’s left thumb during the karaoke at the scrimmage tonight. Hopefully he’s ramping up.

Perhaps the healing powers of being at the top of the depth chart for a few games are at work?

With Fox slated to miss the first few games of the season, it'd be awesome if Harper is ready to go on opening night. Seems like that's fairly likely if the expectation is for him to play at some point in the preseason.

would be interesting to see if they actually go with a Harper/Castle backcourt or if they just slide Castle down to PG and start Champagnie and Vassell together for max shooting.

i still think they ought to go big against Dallas and start one of Kornet/Olynyk, such that the lineup would be Castle/Vassell/Barnes/Wemby/Kornet. i dont see how you survive against the size of Lively/Davis/Flagg with Wemby/Barnes/Vassell

im skeptical they would start harper but who knows
