There is no chance MIN is going to win that series without Ant. The minute I heard he was out regardless of the 3-1 I knew we’d be playing Denver.
Not that I am scared to play Denver, but I hate it because Minnesota looked like the better team when healthy with Ant and
DiVincenzo. They're basically going to get a free chance at the next round when they may not have made it there had Minnesota not gotten those devastating injuries. It'd also suck to play a banged up Wolves team if they make it as I don't know how much that would prepare the Spurs for the next round should they play the Wolves instead.
hope someone asks Mitch why he decided not to play CB after giving him important minutes throughout series...
Like I've said before, Mitch is mishandling CB. There was no reason not to play him tonight, especially when the Spurs had a big lead. Very disappointed in what Mitch is going with him.
Literally everything else in my life is utter and total shit, but I'm so blessed as a sports fan, I can hardly believe it.
Hope things get better my dude. Last year has been rough for me as well; Spurs have been a nice revelation this year for a lot of us tbh.
I don't really want to go into any personal details, hopefully everything is alright, but I'm in a similar boat too. Spurs have been one thing these past two years (not just this season) that have really kept me afloat and trying to push forward.
Best wishes, bro. I’ve been having it rough too, having lost two loved ones within the last year and a half with my pops having advanced dementia. Sports is trivial when it’s all said and done but…on the other hand, they still find a way to boost the mood and I want to see these guys win with all of us celebrating.
Sorry to hear that. That is really terrible and hard thing to go through.
As for the other stuff, I mean, that's what people say and they're right, but I'm more like KG where basketball does actually mean a lot to me than it just being a sport. I got into UFC and I hear some of those guys say that it's by far the best sport and they don't understand how people can watch stuff like Basketball, Football etc. (I disagree with that - when you're into a specific sport, especially if you played it when you were younger, it's a lot easier to remain a fan of it and still love it). With me, I didn't realize no matter how shitty I feel, I still somehow feel better when the Spurs have a great team and are winning. I didn't think it'd make any difference as I grew up with the Spurs always winning, but now, after a rebuild, seeing them back to winning, it does actually make me feel better even if I feel like complete shit or things are not going well. Not sure how or why that is (maybe because it takes focus away from other things?). I think it does make a difference to a lot of people. If I was a player on the team and Pop gave his usual lectures, I probably wouldn't listen to him. I'd be locked in and focused on basketball all the time. I'd leave all the other stuff he talks about for retirement. I'd maybe only start looking at all the other stuff Pop talks about when finished playing. I'm not an Xs and Os guy, though, that would want to keep involved by coaching.
Assuming the Nuggets win in 7 they'll be coming in with a lot of momentum tbh. Even with a gimpy AG they'll be more than capable of winning that series. We all need to be Minny fans for the next few days imo.
Yeah, this is what I'm worried about. Winning that series in 7 might get them going. Really disappointing for Minnesota that they couldn't finish the series healthy. The Nuggets may just get a reprieve due to those injuries to Ant and DiVincenzo, and really, they don't deserve it with the way they played in those first 4 games. If the Wolves were healthy and they Nuggets still came back and won, that'd be one thing and I'd say congrats (it'd make them a lot more dangerous too), but it looks like they may comeback without having to fight tooth and nail to do it. I watched some of game 5 and their confidence was much better than the first 4 games, and they seemed at ease. You don't really see that with a team down 3-1 heading into an elimination game where they're comfortable. Hopefully the Wolves bring it in game 6 because they deserve a chance to win the series with all the work they did in the first 4 games, they deserve to at least make the next round.
I think that Steph was tired of getting hacked (hard) repeatedly…. Very few whistles going his way, while Deni ran into and sometimes even through defenders…and got call after call after call.
I never really seen Steph lose his composure before, but this series started seeing it a little. I think he let the frustration get to him a bit. Also, Mitch needs to be the one to get on the referees more - whether it's during the game, before the game or after the game, Mitch needs to call them out more if they're favouring one team with different calls on similar plays. Hopefully Steph can refocus with these few days off and can lock-in and go back to his deadly assassin type ways.
