Trade Official 2025-2026 Trade Deadline Thread

By far the biggest loser was the Rockets.

I dont know if the plan is to pick up washed ass Mike Conley but to not land a single PG after like 20 were moved these last few days is objectively hilarious tbh.
the Bulls alone got like 9 :st-lol:

At the end of the deadline, only three teams haven't done anything - Miami, Houston, San Antonio.
They should have put together a three team trade with end of bench scrubs so they could shut everyone up about not doing anything. 😂

Fixed it for you
You seem upset.
OKC being the outlier, how many other playoff teams have important rotation members they claimed off waivers?

Vassell and Tre were good picks, Bryant looks like a good pick.

Even Presti drafted Pokusevski and traded multiple picks for Dieng. Noone is perfect.

As for the scouting, honest question, what do you think how much authority Wright had before Pop retired? The system has been in place for many years, I doubt he could've changed much and as I said, no GM is perfect.
Imo, a GM needs to be competent at making trades, managing assets, keeping the team competitive and not getting into cap hell. Not everyone can be a great talent evaluator. That's where the scouts come in.
Spurs not having elite scouts isn't on Wright, imo.

And I wouldn't even judge him for any moves he made before Pop retired, I'm not sure he had the freedom to do what he wanted. Any reasonable GM would've tanked years before we did, but we had to stay competitive for Pop.

Wolves giving up on Dillingham so fast is a vindication of Brian Wright and that draft night trade. Hopefully it's a sign they are getting better at scouting/talent evaluation.

Doubt they'll sign an MLE agent. Probably give Champ a raise and Barnes a 2 year deal.

Since Spurs will have a lot of space below the tax, I can see them giving Barnes a 1 year contract with a high salary.

Will a $15M/1 year contract be enough to convince him of staying?

anything pre 2023 draft, i could care less about. a better player here or there could have meant a couple more wins which would have changed the lottery position for the spurs. as a result, i could care less if the spurs don't have a max christie on the roster.

why would anybody want to pay Harrison Barnes 15 million for one year? Are we a charity organisation?

Glad they kept Sochan instead of dumping him for a second rounder. His instagram gf must be so disappointed. I hope it fires him up to improve his game and get back on the court.

Was curious how the 2022 draft looks compared to historical norms.

Looks really about typical, honestly, it's just that there ended up being better players almost right after where we picked, which stands out. Sochan, Blake and Bran outcomes weren't really that different than expectation though.

Not really, some wanted him at 8 (not me) but I don't remember anyone advocating for him at 4. Castle was the most popular choice, Dejounte (now OK computer) made a survey at the time, I don't remember who went 2nd/3rd but I think it was Sheppard, Risacher and Buzelis.
Nobody wanted Saluan at 4. A few were still stuck on Dillingham at four over Castle but most had finally come around on Castle on draft day.

But there were still many who wanted Sheppard over Castle luckily he went 3rd so the Spurs weren't tempted to make that mistake.

i wanted shep over castle. i also had wing castle 1-2 tiers above point guard castle

thats why i was excited at dillingham at 8 after taking castle at 4, because that signaled castle wasnt going to be a PG, but of course that was all an illusion

Should we start a buy-out market thread?
Can the Spurs even be players there? Just saw Cam Thomas was waived for example.
