People need to let the .Edey thing go.
Especially since he already has the injury bug in his second season, might become one of those stone footed useless >7’3’ guys. never gets the heat Victor does because it doesn’t get clicks

Luke Kornet has been a pleasant and reliable surprise with his ability to complete alley-oop plays seeming to exceed the abilities of some Spurs bigs of arguably greater overall talent who preceded him. He has been great. But he has been outmuscled by Zach Edey—the guy who conventional wisdom said was too slow for the NBA—in their direct matchups that I have followed. I am a bit surprised that I have not seen anyone mention that Edey was available in the 2024 NBA draft when the Spurs took Dillingham and then immediately traded him away. Edey was selected by Memphis with the next pick at a time when the Spurs desperately needed another center and before Kornet was signed. Was passing on Edey a blunder or would he have not been a good fit for the Spurs? I guess it is water under the bridge and does not matter at this point.

The Spurs didn't want him, so there is nothing that can really be done about it now. As other posters said, not sure if he could have worked with Victor and/or if teams would try and take advantage of him in the playoffs.

I wish we had another backup center/PF type that the team could rotate with Victor and Luke, and even be able play that 3rd guy with Vic and Luke. It really would help the team a lot if they can find someone.

I really like the name Cool Hand Luke too (I don't normally watch older movies, but I really liked that one. I should try and watch more old movies, or at least rewatch CHL). If Kornhub wasn't already the name, I would have liked to use that as his thread title's name (or at least incorporated into it).

Why are we tainting a beautiful Korndog thread with nonsense about Zach Edey?!?

Edey actually puts up decent on off metrics last and this year (whe he okayed) during rh regular season, had positive impacts in both offence and defence.

However, his playoff numbers were atrocious where he was a negative on both offence and defence. Granted it was against OKC and kudos to him that he helped the grizzlies get in the playoffs in the first place, but the fear of him being hunted with any game planning is sort of true and he’s useless against better teams. He’s almost like a new age Gobert in that regard.

More Luke content is desperately needed. I remember back when Pop was an assistant for Larry Brown, they used to have Pop and Sean's Movie Reviews. Let's get some of that kind of action going.

My favorite was that rebound dunk he did against the Suns thing of beauty dude was a great free agent signing by the Spurs

Luke has a new blog post up today, talking about the life of a deep bench player:

Here is one glorious snippet:
There is however a little electricity in the air as at least you’re playing 3-on-3 this day, which means there is ample opportunity to get in one’s bag that does not exist within 5-on-5 and certainly not in actual game time. Bad news is they called up the rookie two-way that’s currently leading the G-league in offensive rebounds (and fouls) per 36. And despite their best efforts, your player development coach did not go through the rigorous, elite training that all certified NBA referees undergo in the long, arduous journey to become the most trusted and competent force of judicial arbiters this country has ever seen (is Tony Brothers reading this?). Long story short, it will get chippy.

I would have expected Wemby to be the one to write a weekly column about himself.

I feel like his regression has gone a bit under the radar the past few weeks..He might be banged up a little as he's not playing with the same vigor of early season..

His rim protection has been mediocre lately (total eye test). It’s almost like the other teams had realized that they can’t score around the basket with wemby on the flow so let’s scout how we can score around the basket with korndog on the floor as that is the only available window to do so.

Need to hope Plumdog has some gas in the tank so Kornhub can get some games off tbh.

I don't really have a strong opinion on the matter. But it's pretty weird that an NBA team is having a night celebrating a strip club.

Maybe I'm just not familiar with the Atlanta area but I understand why somebody like Luke who is very religious would be like wtf. Kudos to him for at least voicing his opinion tbh.

I thought it was kind of strange too, but apparently this Magic City thing has more to do with its influence on hip hop from ATL? At least that's what I read somewhere... in the end it all seems pretty weird. I can't imagine having an 11 year old daughter who is a Hawks fan asking me what this Magic City night is all about... (my daughters give zero shits about basketball... so I can't imagine even having a daughter who cares about it at all lol)

So looking up the numbers on NBA advanced stats, not sure if the numbers are overly accurate.

For Kornet, the numbers by month, are as follows for Opponent shooting in the Restricted Area and in the non-restricted paint area:
Oct (2 games) - 47.1% / 48.1%
Nov (10) - 58.3% / 37.5%
Dec (13) - 70.7% / 47.9%
Jan (14) - 57.9% / 45.5%
Feb (10) - 58.9% / 52.3%

For reference, Wemby is first on the team in Opponent FG% in the restricted area at 60.3%, Bryant 2nd at 60.4% and Kornet is 3rd at 61.2%, so he was really good in 4 out of the 5 months so far in the season.
Wemby is also first on the team in Opponent FG% in the non-restricted paint area at 38.1%, Vassell 2nd at 41.5%, and Champagnie 3rd at 41.6%, Kornet's rate of 46.1% for the season is ranking him at 10th on the team, last amongst the regulars. Only Jordan Mc, Olynyk, Waters III and Biyombo are worse, which is quite a surprise for me.
