Player BREAKING: Wemby Expected to Miss Multiple Weeks with Left Calf Strain; **UPDATE** Wemby Expected to Return Tomorrow for NBA Cup Semifinals vs. OKC

This really sucks but it is the right move.. You don't fuck with calf injuries nowadays; the calf-to-achilles rupture connection has taken down too many star players recently for teams to ignore the devastating implication of treating the issue lightly. I would rather go 0-12 in next few weeks than see that horrific sight with Wemby.

Also Mitch Johnson playing him 15 consecutive minutes vs Warriors was extremely reckless choice.
We live and learn.Shouldnt probaby be playing over 30 mins a game.Should also invest in another young big from now on.
Stop wasting two way contracts on guys like harrison ingram and minix riley. We can do much better then that shit.

Calf strain probably from too many jump shots? I am done with Victor ... this guy will never play 65+ games anymore.

He played 71 his rookie year tbh.
70 games should be considered like a "healthy" season for Wemby ..HE will never have the durability of bigs like Jokic or the longevity of Duncan which makes taking more aggressive roster moves is the right approach (Fox trade is in that line of thinking)..We have no years to waste with Wemby.. Put #6 in the rafters and let the chips (no pun intended) fall where they may after..

Well, two years ago, probably even one year ago, Wemby probably would have missed like three games on that kind of injury. But it's understandable that teams are being extra-cautious with this type of injury nowadays when there might be a connection with the achilles injuries.

heard somebody say that a DVT in the leg could also be firstly diagnosed as a calf strain... hope it's not that

I had a few calf strains (obviously nowhere near the level of athlete these guys are with their freakish abilities and athleticism), but I just played through it. Have any of you guys had calf injuries that lingered or had a more serious injury off of one? If they're going to start sitting NBA players now for these, it could really affect the NBA as a product overall.

Unreal. Season could be over before it even really got started :(.
I tore my calf training for the marathon in 2011, grade 2. It took 3 months to recover and was never the same after, I kept pulling it. Granted that I drank probably more than these guys and I was a lot older (37 when it happened).

This what it boiled down to, tbh. No medical staff team would want to be associated with ruining the career of the future face of league: "Wemby, my guy, it is in everyone's utmost interest, that you don't play basketball for next couple of weeks until we get to bottom of this minor calf swollenness!"

Wouldn't even surprise me if this was a call from a higher up (Pop, RC, Brian Wright)..Sit him until the strain is fully, completely, and irreversibly gone..

my understanding of freakishly tall guys having injury issues are mostly skeletal, as is their bones are not strong enough to support that much mass moving at that speed and that rigorously.

Wemby, 🤞, does not have any issues with his bones so far, and most specifically bones in the lower half of his body.

When these tall freaks have career ending or altering injuries, you are talking back, knees, hips, ankles and such. Not a blood clot or a muscle strain.

Ralph Sampson's knees destroyed his career.
Porzingis had issues with mostly his knees.
Yao Ming had issues with his foot and ankle.
Muresan had foot and ankle problems (also due to his unusual growth).
Rik Smits and foot and knee problems but he still played like a dozen years of which most were relatively healthy.

Don't be such a candy ass. He's hurt because that little bitch Podzinki went Karate Kid on him after Draymond got dunked on by Wemby and told to STFU.

Next time we play the warriors, we need to start Ingram and have him earn his pay and take that little shit out.

It might be from a single play where Podziemski swept him and crouched down behind him on a play.

Also, those of you that bought up DVT and calf strain, didn't Lillard have a calf issue before his DVT. Man, I feel bad for Lillard. He had a calf issue, DVT and then ruptured/torn Achilles. Fucking sucked seeing that for him. He was trying his hardest to play through it all. I sincerely respect how much he wanted to play. Can't believe the Bucks threw him to the curb after that. Not sure why people weren't in a uproar over that after what he tried to play through for that team.

Not to be negative, but we might be faced with an obvious reality of a question on long-term health, given the body-type.
That was always the question when he got drafted. Players that are that tall typically don’t have great longevity, but I’m keeping positive. A couple of weeks let’s hang in there and get him back. He’s very young. We have enough on this roster to win games without him for a bit.

Who would have thought Draymond, Westbrick, Dilon Brooks etc would not be the first arsehole to pull such a move and this plant head "who thought he will be better than Curry" arsehole would be the first...

What’s worse? Every usual suspect from the Cliff Diving Message Board Veterans’ Club is leaping in to declare, “Wemby’s injury-prone, just like so-and-so, we can’t build around him.” Terrible take. Terrible troll attempt. If that’s the excuse you’re selling yourselves, Cliff Jumpers, it’s flimsier than a pool noodle at high tide. This is the kind of play the NFL literally outlawed because it racked up injuries faster than a buffet racks up empty plates.

it is literally just most teams aren't going to mess around with Calf Strains anymore.
I wasn't denying that. I'm saying the team likes to be super cautious, and with his history of clots I would be super careful with a calf pain to rule it out. There's a decent chance they did an ultrasound. But I haven't heard any details yet.

Luka taking his time coming back from this type of injury more a less got him traded lol.
Yeah, but we’re not a poverty franchise with an idiot at helm. I was reminded that Nico was the one that lost out on Steph signing at Nike. Blew the whole presentation and called him Seth. lol. Anyone that hires him for anything other than janitorial work is oncrack
