Clippers are still better than Portland, Memphis, and Dallas. Won't be surprised if they surpass the Warriors to be in the top 8 at some point.

Agree. Their start was awful considering how relatively good they are. Memphis will probably call off the hunt pretty soon as they dump Ja and even JJJ or try to.

I wonder if trading Trae killed the Hawks' mojo. He was their star, for better or worse, and he got dumped for peanuts.

Pulling for Charlotte and Dallas to make some noise, and hold pressure on ATL. I think it’s just a matter of time before LAC comfortably supplants them too. We’ll see if MIL makes a trade to make Giannis happy too

Certainly doesn't help that CJ McCollum has come to town to play 26.7 mpg, and shoot .423/.167/.556 with a USG% of 33

And that's before factoring in the 2-11 FG / 0-5 3P, -31 performance he's put up tonight :st-lol:

He’s come in and pulled rank by swinging his President of the Players Association dick around.

McCollum might have thought he was auditioning for a playoff team. Instead he's like an angry can throwing kitty litter all over the place.

Honestly the Hawks are so close to a bottom 6 record with a bit of tanking. Their best interest might be to let the Spurs pick off their carcass with whoever they want outside of Jalen Johnson and NAW in exchange for this year pick swap back.

With the Pels pick up they could have two top 5 picks in a stacked draft and come back next year with JJ, NAW and two of Peterson, Dybansta, Boozer, Wilson, Flemings and max salary cap space in the off season.

I’ll take Okongwu and Risacher for this years swap and next years pick back.

I agree about height not being the end all, but I really want to see a legit 6'9" or bigger PF on the floor owning the boards (and hitting 3s too, of course). I think about this every time an opponent grabs an offensive rebound, which is to say, a lot.
The spurs are actually #1 in defensive rebounds by raw numbers, per 100 and dreb%.

Our problem is more on the offensive hoards where we are 12,13 and 14th

I'd do that in a heartbeat, but I don't think ATL parts with Risacher for "only" their picks back. It's bad optics.

But I'd still do the trade for Okongwu alone, both picks. He'd be that good with us. I think he's one of the best fits with Wemby we could hope for.

Nice to see the Hawks suck so thoroughly. It's the type of beatdowns that make you reassess.

That's about all I'd do for Risacher and Okongwu. Honestly though, with where they're headed, I'd be fine with keeping the swap. It could be that good.

Atlanta doesn't actually own the Spurs' pick swap outright. It's this:

More favorable of (i) less favorable of ATL and SAN and (ii) less favorable of (a) CLE and (b) more favorable of UTH 1-8 and MIN [or (ii) CLE if UTH not conveyable] then less favorable of (i) and (ii) to CLE;
more favorable of ATL and SAN to SAN

If you can make sense of it. Right now Cleveland gets the Spurs pick, Atlanta gets the Cleveland pick, which is currently 17. So I guess they could swap their own pick for what Cleveland winds up getting.

But no way in hell am I giving their swap back for Risacher. That's full on nuts. He's barely mediocre and is on a #1 draft pick salary.

I'm not sure if it was Lowe who mentioned this, but CJ puts them in kind of a bind if he just decides to chuck shots all day long and play bad defense. It's the exact opposite of how Quinn wants to play, and CJ's breaking the offense and absolutely hurting them. But he's president of NBAPA so he's got a ton of power, so not sure if Quinn has the power to necessarily curb him or bench him, and he's playing for his next contract. His contract coming off the books gives the Hawks a ton of flexibility in the off season, but may have fucked over their season this year (great for the spurs)

Atlanta needs to continue to tear it down. Daniel’s has been poor for them this year, Okungwu shows flashes but it just hasn’t clicked for that guy for his whole career, and Rischser has many flags. KP is toast.

They have that amazing NOLA pick so they shouldn’t feel the sting of losing their natural pick. If they land Peterson and pick up someone like Zubac I think they’ll be decent next year.

Naw. If we have a chance at a high pick this year, we take it.
