Hawks second straight loss. They're going to be stuck in that 9th-10th purgatory for the rest of season.

Agreed. We should be able to move up to 10th to 12th in the draft, which, if nothing else gives us some trade leverage. And who knows, the lottery balls might be kind to us once again.

Posted this in the draft prospects thread but posting it in here too:

Another guy who's shooting up draft boards right now is Amari Allen. 6'8 wing who oozes potential. NBA level athlete, great form on his jumper, already shoots the 3 at a good clip (37% on 4 3PTA per), rebounds, can handle the ball in transition, and versatile defender who's averaging over 1 Blk & 1 Stl per game. No Ceilings has him going to the Spurs in their most recent Mock.

Can't believe that Snyder is still employed tbh. Every time I've seen him, he looks extremely checked out.

Yea just saw that he measured 6'5.25 barefoot at Adidas AA Camp two Summers ago, but he was 17 at the time. Could've grown some since then, who knows. Def looks closer to 6'6 barefoot though imo.
yeah he looks like a regular 6'5, 6'6 guy like keldon

usually the exact number matters less than how they play. plenty of smaller guys play bigger than guys listed as taller/longer than them. but when somebody's value is continually being pinned on their expected measurements, it becomes a point of contention. like all the stuff last year about ace bailey being 6'9 or 6'10 being the big draw of him being a super sized SF and borderline KD dimensions... turns out he is still a very solid 6'7.5 barefoot but not super sized

I agree about height not being the end all, but I really want to see a legit 6'9" or bigger PF on the floor owning the boards (and hitting 3s too, of course). I think about this every time an opponent grabs an offensive rebound, which is to say, a lot.

To be fair, the Spurs lead the league in DRB% and are as far ahead of 2nd place Hornets as the Hornets are from the #10 Lakers.

Opponents getting offensive rebounds is always annoying but the Spurs are the best in the league at denying those. Wemby leading the league with an individual DRB% of 33.6% is a big part of that.

The Spurs are league average on ORB% for the season, anchored by Kornet's 13.7%, good for 9th in the league. Keldon is #20 at 9.1%.

That's mainly why I am okay with having a good shooting but poor rebounding PF like Barnes in the lineup, but only if he is hitting his threes at a high clip. Adding more rebounding at the expense of shooting would lead to diminishing returns.

Exactly which is why I all for getting someone like Sam Hauser to reinforce the forward slots with a high end shooter.

On this team , do you see him as a 3 or 4?
I think he's much a 4 as Barnes, so on this team that's probably what he'd be. Weirdly enough, our best "PF" is probably Champ at this point. It's not like it's hurting our rebounding (considering where we ranking in Reb%), so I think we can just accept that we're going to have a bunch of tweeners (HB, Champ, Keldon) at that position.

Actually if we think about it that way, it opens up an entirely different set of players we could consider for depth.

I can be sold on Hauser easily. I think the Atlanta swap is the best way to acquire a large PF type player, especially with the way this draft class is shaping up.

That's about what I was thinking too. We've gone over the same targets so many times its got me thinking about different ways to approach it so we've got more topics to discuss
