Alex Sarr has quietly had a very good soph campaign so far. Averaging 18 points, 8.5 boards, with 3.5 assist and 2 blocks per game. FG% up from sub 40 to around 50% too. Shooting the 3 at 35%.

Much better prospect than Risacher. He should and would have gone number 1 if he didn’t tell the Hawks not to draft him.
Feels like Risacher got worse while Sarr got better.

Risacher is the perfect example why some franchises will always stay mediocre.

Hawks trusted the media narratives and pressure. Castle would've been perfect for them, they could just transition him into the point guard role and trade Trae.
Luckily for us, they didn't.

Let's be honest, none of Risacher, Sarr, Castle or Buzalis is enough to change a franchise.
The Hawks could have even drafted Castle + Risacher and it would still not be enough to change their future

The Hawks are just unlucky to win the lottery the worst year by far out the last 5

Considering Ingram/Barnes led Raptors are the second seed in the East right now, Castle and Jalen Johnson duo wuld be good enough of a core for the Hawks to be competitive long term.

Most in here liked Risacher more than Sarr and even Castle. I remember some even saying Sarr will be a bust.

I basically had them in draft order for the top 4. Risacher has regressed this year after what looked like an impressive summer overseas.

Spurs should just hire @rascal to do their drafts. I thought he was nuts having Sarr #1 but here we are in Year 2 and his top 2 (Sarr #1, Castle #2) are right on point. Oh well at least looks like I was right having Risacher #4 and Castle #1 wasn't too bad a call on my board.

I’ll eat crow on Kon as well. Did not see him as a Top 5 prospect in this draft. he’s been awesome, and that’s saying a lot with this crop.

Sarr was number 1 for most of that year. It isn’t spectacular or some crazy scouting to pick Sarr over Risacher. This dude rascal also said Reed and Kon would be bums. It’s better to actually believe people who pumped up prospects from the lower tiers of the draft before anybody did, than just someone who follows the consensus tbh

I took Sarr in severel fantasy leagues (yes, I'm addicted) in the fifth or sixth round. Great value.

i liked Reed a lot (believe i had him #3) but didnt like Kon as a top 8 guy

Dude was calling Sarr and Castle from the beginning of the year back when everyone was hyping Topic and Cody Williams.

I wanted Kon when 7 or 8 looked realistic; obviously not after landing the pick for Harper. I definitely would have never picked Kon #4 or #5 though with Tre Johnson or Ace Bailey on the board (would have traded Bailey, I hated him going into the draft).

No one realistically thought Cody Williams and Topic were above those two guys throughout that year. If you want to simp over rascal’s vanilla takes, I guess more power to you. I guess when he starts hyping up Boozer or Peterson, it will get eaten up like some fantastic prediction as well. Incredible.

i was ok with him at 8 but not over the moon or anything

i had bailey at #3 until the very end tbh

You remember wrong. Topic had enormous early year hype and the board was in love with him. Cody Williams too, all the early season hype was that he was way more developed than his brother at that age. You're trying to look back with hindsight.

I had Ace #5 but only because I figured could net more in trade for him than Kon was worth. My top 7 were

1. Flagg
2. Harper
3. Edgecombe
4. Tre Johnson
5. Bailey
6. Jaku
7. Kon

I was getting pissed watching the tourney seeing Kon play himself up and out of the #8 slot I figured the Spurs would end up at. Early returns seem to indicate I whiffed hard on Jaku.

I didn't like Sheppard or Kon... because I also have a generally aversion to unathletic, small white guys.

I also thought Sarr was just a Temu Jalen Duren... but to fair, that actually turned out to be a compliment.

I was right about Ajay Mitchell though, so at least I have that going for me.

Tidjane Saluan is having a rough start to his sophomore campaign. His minutes got cut in half on a bad team and he's shooting 36% so far.

I think we should hold our horses when it comes to already crown the best of the two.. they are both in sophomore years

Another one that got to the league because of his physical attributes and doesn't actually know how to play basketball.

Maybe I’m misremembering last year’s draft, but wasn’t Salaun described as someone with a great motor, athleticism, draft age, but had little in the way of basketball skills other than shooting 3s?

It’s still pretty early, but that sounds like Carter Bryant so far to me. Hoping he develops better, tbh.

I don't really follow college basketball, but a lot of forum members were saying Salaun doesn't know how to play basketball long before the draft.
On the other hand, some people thought he was the Spurs target at #8 and Hornets taking him was the reason we traded the pick away.
