I'm hoping Bryant can become that player a few years down the road.
Or maybe a miracle happens and Jeremy gets his shit together.
Every team has some weak points, we couldn't fix everything in one summer.
Again, total agreement. & I'm in no rush, we're not getting past OKC or Denver this yr for sure, likely the next couple.

I still have (some) hope for Sochan, especially with seeing how Devin and KJ have embraced already having defined roles. Hopefully Jeremy can learn a lot from the Lunch Lady
CB has super impressed me with just his physical development alone, dude does not look like a going on 20y/o physically.
Just greedily looking at this forward class (anyone see Dabantsa against UCONN??- that is a REAL dude) , and thinking what might have been if the Spurs (via Hawks) win that coin flip against the Hawks (via Kings). So damn close, but that's greed.
We got #1, #4, and #2, I'm very happy with that.

I was somewhat interested in getting Dejounte back when Atlanta was looking at trading him (before the Spurs got the 2nd pick). I thought he might have been a nice player to have off the bench, but darn, teams are somehow really coming together after he's traded.

A lot of us were interested in getting him back...

...a lot of us also have some really bad ideas sometimes and it's a good thing we aren't NBA executives.

Other than his career season dare I say that DJM is an empty calories player?
But man, he was rebounding like Westbrook while leading the league in steals. I wouldn't be surprised if he had the highest Rebs/g ever for a guy that lead the league in Stls. Special combo esp at 21/9 with All-D talent.
Something happened. I'm just glad we got out when we did, regardless of what we get some Atl.

Trae is only useful on a team who cannot score at all, like the hawks a couple of years ago, or pre wemby spurs. His defence is useless, his offence can be substituted easily with some kind of ball movement or a few guys who can create somewhat. Jalen Johnson, NAW and Daniels can create their own shots or even for someone else in a pinch.

I didn’t know that CLE had the ability to swap first round picks with ATL if the pick doesn’t convey?

2026 first round draft pick to Utah or Atlanta (Utah, Atlanta, San Antonio or Minnesota incoming)
San Antonio will receive the more favorable of its 2026 1st round pick and Atlanta's 2026 1st round pick; Utah will receive the most favorable of its 2026 1st round pick protected for selections 9-30, Minnesota's 2026 1st round pick and Cleveland's 2026 1st round pick; Minnesota will receive the less favorable of its pick and the Utah pick if conveyable [or its pick if the Utah pick is not conveyable]; Atlanta will receive the more favorable of (i) the less favorable of its 2026 1st round pick and San Antonio's 2026 1st round pick and (ii) the less favorable of (a) the Cleveland pick and (b) the more favorable of the Utah pick if conveyable and the Minnesota pick [or (ii) the Cleveland pick if the Utah pick is not conveyable] and Cleveland will receive the less favorable of (i) and (ii) (if the Utah pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyable, then Minnesota's and Cleveland's obligations to Utah will be extinguished) (via Utah's right to swap for Minnesota; via Utah's right to swap Utah or Minnesota for Cleveland; via San Antonio's right to swap for Atlanta; via Atlanta's right to swap Atlanta or San Antonio for Cleveland, Utah or Minnesota) [Atlanta-San Antonio, 6/30/2022; Minnesota-Utah, 7/6/2022; Cleveland-Utah, 9/3/2022; Atlanta-Cleveland, 2/6/2025]
What a mess.

There are two swaps, ATL-SAS AND CLE-UTA. Once both swaps resolve, ATL has the option to swap with Cleveland. Doesn’t affect our swap with Atlanta at all.

imo he was actually good. the fit on the hawks didnt make sense and didnt work. neither murray nor trae every thrived off-ball. murray did become a respectable 35% 3pt shooter during his time with the hawks, but he was always at his best attacking and pulling up for his money middies.

there was also a minsconception that he was an ace man to man defender built to take the tough assignments. while early in his career he was a dog in those situations, by the time he became an all star caliber player, his forte really was being an off-ball demon who would go get steals and disrupt plays with help defense. ATL thought they could just hide Trae and use Murray as the premier defender... and that didnt work

is murray good enough to be an on-ball point on a winning team... i cant say how we will look post-injuries. but if we took his 2022 form, i definitely think it was good enough given that he had the proper surroundings. like, hes no brunson, but you put him on the knicks and i think that team would operate well

I'm curious to see how they do tonight at home vs a good team.

Sans his peak season DJM would be an elite backup PG on a championship caliber team with plus rebounding for his position. His lack of off ball abilities bogs up the spacing on offense too much playing next to a ball heavy super star.

overqualified. you put him in a situation like memphis in place of Ja and i think he'd look quite good again. assuming he isnt a shell of himself physically

Ja and DJM’s shooting paired together would go about as well as Trae and DJM. Not a fit.

Will wait for end of season and let ESPN etc analyse and announce the pick goes to who

good result today
I think if Wemby plays 70 games, this swap conveys. Won't be a lottery but most likely in range of 23 for 19 or 24 for 18. The bad news for the Hawks is teams like, Pistons, Raptors, Philly, Miami all levelled up and are looking much better than expected with Boston still scrapping around. Only the Magic are underperforming in The East relative to expectations.. So Atlanta is not totally out of play-in zone

I was sort of 60/40 it wouldn't convey, but have have now flipped my impression.
It's going to be really interesting what they do in the off season- so far of their young talent only Jalen Johnson looks great- ZR has a ways to go and Dyson while he has his pluses has a lot of flaws for 25 a year.

What’s funny is there’s a world we have a better record than them but the pick swap wouldn’t be exercised anyway

Only if the Spurs miss the playoffs, not a possibility I'd like to contemplate.
