Would Mullins be a good addition to the Spurs? Or is he not going to be a good enough athlete going forward to stay with anybody on defense?

Could be sure.Plays ok defence and a good shooter. But his last several games hes been shooting poorly for it being his best asset.
Will see if it gets it going,Cause if not i could see him returning back to college if he keeps struggling.Hopefully he explodes with his shooting.

Sergio de Larrea is an interesting case IMO. considering the most mocks he will be available in the 2nd round, so he will be definitely on the Spurs radar.
(some team might pick him 1st round though)
he is now listed at 6'6", I wouldn't be surprised, if he came taller, he is definitely tall enough to play SF, he also bulked up this season. If I look for a comparison, I see a smaller version of Avdija.(I don't claim he is as talented)
he plays the two best competitions outsinde the NBA (Euroleague and Spanish league ACB) and his team valencia ist one of the best in Europe. (currently #2 in ACB and #4 in Euroleague).
so getting minutes isn't easy for a 19/20 years old kid, but he worked his way into the regular rotation, at least in the ACB games. (Euroleague he plays less minutes)

point is, he can do a bit of everything. handle the ball, pass, shoot. so, he might either become a poor man's Deni Avdija, or a rich man's Sam Hauser. both archtypes would find a niche with this Spurs, right?
He'd be an excellent 2nd round pick for this team.

my only requisite is the spurs don't pull a "luka samanic" or a "yanh hansen." And I DON'T mean taking a risk on a high risk high reward prospect, but choosing a player while leaving so much value on the table by not trading up.

A new day brings new rankings once again for me.

Last night’s game and comments in the game thread said a lot of how fast the Spurs were attacking. This makes me want to move “faster” players higher such as: Carr, Swain. @spurraider21 ‘s words on Carr swayed me to move him up as well.

Another reason and perhaps the biggest reason I’m making this adjustment is again, how Mitch tells us again and again what scheme and strategy they’re going for:

“Timing, spacing, not letting the ball “stick”, probing”… all of this sounds like the ideal type of fit in the draft is once again an offensively versatile player. That means a player with some ball handling and uses it to probe (sorry Cenac), less projection of good shooting but has shot good volume (sorry Morez, Peat, Ejiofor).

New rankings:

1. Ament
2. Carr
3. Swain - if we want to see more crossovers or “sauce” like we saw from Castle last night, Swain is an additional weapon for that.
4. Joshua Jefferson
5. Haugh
6. Tounde
7. Cenac
8. Hannes
Updated rankings 3/20

1. Ament
2. Carr
3. Joshua Jefferson
4. Cenac
5. Swain
6. Haugh
7. Hannes
8. Maleek Thomas
9. Tounde

Joshua Jefferson goes down with an ankle injury. Need help getting off the court and back to the locker room and was later seen using crutches. Not good.

I am still ruing last year's draft when we had Max Reynaud at 38 and gave the pick away. The 3 headed monster of French French vanilla would have been awesome to watch. I believe we would probably won at least 5 of those games we lost if we had Mad Max.

Now, the Hawks keep winning and pushing us farther away from Hannes Steinbach.

I assume it's because they thought he'd be a defensive liability and decided to roll with signing a veteran Olynyk (who is also a defensive liability lol) in FA. I agree they should've drafted him anyways and worried about the details later. You can always just trade or release him down the line. Trading away picks for cash and/or future picks doesn't move me right now. Would've been good having one of Wemby's good friends in the pipeline too tbh. I remember when they worked out together before the draft last year. Spurs were definitely interested. Bummer they decided to go another route.

They didn’t sign Olynik, they traded Maliki and Blake for him, offloading two failed firsts for an ending contract.

They didn’t draft him, because he told teams he wanted Sacramento. He went to school near there, and I believe he has a GF there, too.

and ace bailey didnt want to go to utah or whatever
Believe it or not, second rounders actually have more leverage than firsts in the NIL era. You really don’t want to draft a second rounder who doesn’t want to be on your team. They can just shit the bed in training camp, and get cut, then sign where they want, and you’ve wasted a pick, AND alienated whatever agency reps him.

a player isnt going to sabotage their career. you offer the second round tender. then they become restricted free agents after a year anyway. better than trading the pick for cash considerations

I agree. No young untested players sabotage their career. You get cut and you’re on a downward spiral to playing in China.
