obviously the potential lottery pick from the hawks unimportant but I’m more interested in the 2nd rounders and what we can get from those. Get solid, fully developed players even if they have minimal upside. Players who are good at a couple of things that we need (outside shooting 4 for example) who are not disasters in other areas. Don’t have to be world beaters, just good enough role players would do.

I think Brian should be able get about 3M per SRP this season tbh

I’m really warming up to Cameron Carr. At some point the shotblocking isn’t a fluke

Puts that 7+ wingspan to use. High level athlete. As long as one believes in the shot he profiles as a legit weapon without needing to be a ballhandler. Trey Murphy like upside

Potential character issues aside (the one SpursBills mentioned), he really looks like he fits the mold of what the Spurs are trying to do. He’s not ISO heavy like Swain, has a good shot, moves a lot off-ball, and can take it to the rim with no problem.

I don't think the Spurs are really invested in getting anything out of their second round picks.

@spurraider21 Carr just had a HUGE block on a 3 pt shooter with that 7’ wingspan in a close game on ESPN2 right now. He then took it all the way to the hoop.

He’s a ridiculous athlete. Third year breakout player but it’s not like hes winning due to strength advantages. That wingspan and athleticism will serve him just fine in the league.

Really comes down to just buying the shot. He’s not as strong but he’s this years Cedric Coward

I touch on this in the post before yours and it’s somewhat of a topic on its own altogether - what you’re saying depends on the viewer’s perception of whether Cenac is a type of player who can play next to Wemby. I don’t and that’s because he has not displayed the quickness I think that’s required for that position - in the full games I’ve watched, he’s often trailing smaller players when he guards them out on the perimeter, there is a ton of blowbys that would make Bryn Forbes blush.
I'm not particularly concerned with his ability to defend in space. My concern is his motor.

I like Carr a lot too. Posted this about him back in November (page 5) when he started the season on a tear.

Carr is off to a hot start no doubt. He's averaging 24 Pts / 4 Rbs / 1 Ast / 2 Blks / 1 Stl on 67% FG% and 52% 3PT% through 3 games. Those numbers will come down a bit as the season progresses obviously, but he looks like a solid prospect based on his athleticism and shooting ability.

Biggest concern with him is obv his size. 6'5 and only 175 lbs... He will get bullied at that weight in the NBA by bigger/stronger guards. And Spurs are already small as is outside of Wemby and Kornet. We really need more positional size on this roster.

As I mentioned back in November, my only reservation with him is that I wish he was a little bigger (though his elite athleticism and 7'2 wingspan help negate some of the size concerns). It looks like he may have already put some muscle on though as he's now listed at 190 lbs on Baylor's team page (previously 175 lbs). He'll also be almost 22 at the start of next season so he's a little older than most of these lottery prospects, but that personally doesn't bother me at all (I actually prefer it given our timeline tbh). Other than that he's a solid prospect that also seems like one of the safer picks as a hyper-athletic, plug-and-play 3&D wing prospect.

J-Dub measured just under 6'5 barefoot and recorded a 7'2 wingspan

he did weigh 209 at the combine, so Carr will need to bulk up, but the height/length is not a concern at all, especialy with his pop as an athlete

brandon ingram another guy with great length (certainly taller than Carr) but was incredibly weak/skinny but his length simply made him good enough to get by anyway. if you are expecting Carr to be a 3/4 type, then you are barking up the wrong tree. he's a 2/3, basically would be our Vassell alternate

What’s Carr’s character issues?
He left Tennessee with no warning midseason last year to transfer to Baylor and red shirt. Sounds like Barnes was completely caught off guard. Sounds kind of like a Jalen Johnson situation. Personally, it’s not a huge deal to me as long as he had good reasons for it. But Spurs seem to be overly cautious about this kind of thing which could hurt his stock and their eyes, whether that’s justified it or not.

Swell-spoken kid tbh and his HC vouches for him (shocker). Not really worried about character concerns with Carr.

The only issue I’m semi-worried about now is that ATL pick dropping by the day
Yea....it could go up to twenties..If magic, heat and philly dont get it together. They are only behind a few games.Teams in the west like portland,
clippers, suns and warriors not helping either.

He should be #1 overall, but I prefer Boozer at 1 for the spurs..
I've only seen Boozer when they played Tech, seen a lot more Dybantsa.
Just curious why you prefer Boozer for SA? Dybantsa seems to have a lot more versatility and a higher ceiling. For instance, AJ could run with French Vanilla or another center in the future. Boozer seems to be PF only on D.

Its really not, its just normal variance. ATL is tied in the loss column with: Cha, Por, Mil and has one more loss than LAC.
When its that close, it'll swing a few picks by winning 2 straight. But the odds of it being a top12 pick haven't really changed, except MIL is playing better/Cam and Dieng look like perfect fits and reported today Giannis has passed both 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 drills= getting close.
I think it looks more likely today we end 10-12 vs 13-14, almost no chance they actually make the POs and convey 15-16.

FWIW CraftedNBA has both POR and LAC with the 1st and 2nd easiest remaining schedules, with Mil and Cha being slightly harder but still bottom half and I think all 4 of those teams are better and playing for much much more than ATL.
