Cenac with a decent first half showing against #4 Arizona. 2/5 for 6 points and 4 boards while playing very good defense. One of his 3PTA barely rimmed out too.

Meanwhile, Nate Ament had the worst offensive game he's had in a while. 13 points & 9 rebounds on 3/13 from the field, but still competed hard defensively and rebounded well. Tennessee sneaks out a close road victory over #19 Vanderbilt.

Cenac

i don’t know about the “very good defense” part. Inside the paint, maybe. But so far from what I’ve seen, he’s a step behind smaller players when he has to switch. He’s tailing them from behind.

I've had a buddy suggest to me that they'd take Caleb Wilson over Peterson... is that a bridge too far?

All the red flags being brought up (by folks here) don't make him sound too blue chip... but I've watched exactly zero minutes of his play.
He might have that Simmons/ Ayton disease: all talent, no desire.

I mean he's 6'11 240+ lbs, he's not going to be able to start in front of small/quick guards tbh. Almost nobody that size is, at least not with any regularity. With that said, he did a good job defensively for the most part imo against a very good (and big) Arizona front court, especially contesting shots from his man or as a help defender. He was huge on the boards too (13) and that was his biggest impact on the game. Unfortunately though his 3-ball just wasn't falling at all in this game (0/5 with a 2 rim-outs) and he just didn't play particularly well overall offensively.

Cenac today vs. #4 Arizona:

10 pts (4/11 FG, 0/5 from 3)
13 rbs
1 ast
0 blk
0 stl
3 TO

Just didn't have it offensively today, but neither did anyone else on Houston against this big, physical #4-ranked Arizona defense. Cenac's offensive game is largely predicated on hitting open 3's and long 2's he didn't do that enough today. He was a monster on the boards though and I thought he protected the rim relatively well minus a couple plays where got beat off the dribble or he fouled or fell down.

Would love to see these two teams meet again in the tournament cause they matchup really well.

All speculation. We'll see what teams think when they get him in the building.

I can't say how serious the issues about Peterson are, or if there are issues at all. But for sure a lot of people jump on anything that might count against him.
If he got his hair cut by a new hair dresser, some people will question his loyality.

my draft order preference changes every day…
1. Nate Ament - i think that the Spurs wouldn’t pass him up if he fell. With that said, I don’t think he will.
2. Joshua Jefferson - if a Spur was made in a lab, it would be Joshua. IQ is off the charts. Special passing skills. Special defense.
3. Cameron Carr - perfect replacement for Vassell, IMO. Reliable shooter, always in the spots he needs to be. Can’t go wrong here.
4. Cenac - jump shooting big who doesn’t need the ball in his hands. If the Spurs were serious about a two big lineup, I expect them to take a look here. As stated earlier, I’m concerned about lineups with both Cenac and Wemby in it. Our perimeter defense will suffer.
5. Hannes - pretty much the same as above, though I think Hannes would make a better backup big than Cenac but Cenac is the better shooter.
6. Mullins - I like this guy in a Donte Divincenzo way. Useful, but doesn’t move the needle in a meaningful way. Not for this team, at least.

I’ll honor a $100 bet with anyone who thinks we’ll draft this guy. If we pick him up and he’s available, I’ll pay up and vice versa.

Logic says: this guy was available last year and, knowing the Spurs, they do their homework. They know everything about him from last year. Nothing’s changed. If he was going to be their guy, he would have stayed in the last draft.
