Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

If he doesn’t win then that’s one thing, but it will be criminal if he’s not top 3 in MVP voting. He should absolutely be in the conversation and anyone putting guys like Jaylen Brown or Cade Cunningham over him should have their credentials revoked.

If he’s healthy from here on out and playing 32+ mpg I have a hard time imagining him not be top 2 in the race.

If the Spurs end up with the best overall record and Wemby finishes the season strong, that MVP conversation gets pretty damn interesting tbh

Jokic is my MVP tbh. Cade shouldnt even sniff anything.
4 mvps for the Joker seems crazy to me. I mean shit Magic Johnson and Larry Bird didn’t win that many. That’s the same amount as LeBron James. I just don’t think his legacy is on that level.

thats why i really want mitch to play wemby 34-35mpg from now on to see how he performs and where will he end up in the MVP race. He might win it over cade, luka and brown if jokic and sga miss out on 65 game rule.

Wemby won’t win anything if we run him into the ground with too many minutes. He just has to stay healthy to get DPOTY and then he’ll be ready to chance a title. Save the extra minutes for the playoffs when it matters, and when there is more time between games to rest and recover.

OKC has 18 games left. SGA has played 52 games. He has to play 13 out of remaining 18 games to meet 65 games requirement.

DEN has 19 games left. Joker has played 46 games. He has to play all 19 remaining games to meet 65 games requirement

You want to gas him for the playoffs just to win MVP. No thanks. I'd like Mitch to play him a little bit more to up his conditioning, but not to chase MVP, just for the purpose to help improve his conditioning.

Yeah to improve his conditioning and at the same time try to win the MVP. Im not saying mitch should play him 38mpg like tonights game. 35-34mpg is good for him. 34mpg isny heavy right?

Looks like Mitch is ramping up his minutes to get his conditioning up for the playoffs.

Sometime I wonder how these conditioning work...because if near the end of season and seed is secured and confirmed with no more movement, Pop used to DNP the whole starting lineup or just play them minimum minutes to minimize risk of injuries before playoffs. Then would the players' conditioning dropped again?

If you look closely you will see that Victor mn are ramping up slowly actually. You don't want Victor going from RS 25-30 mpg to POs 35 mpg with no acclimation, he needs to get acclimated to a bigger load. Spurs are doing a great job at monitoring that.

You can only put up those MVP-worthy scoreboards (35/15/5 games) if you play heavy minutes (+34 mins) on the regular like Wemby did last night. Victor can sometimes pull them off playing only 28-30 mins, but it's not the norm or expected performance if you compute average usage + efficiency..

We have bunch of tricky opponents coming up, so we might be seeing him playing more minutes and putting up eye-catching performances to get in him in the Shai/Jokic MVP conversations after clearly jumping Cade Cunningham up in the ladder in these two matchups vs Detroit..

I think the most important is to have a bigger load not for MVP consideration but for building dat stamina that he will need for the POs... it is a thin line as the key is health but again bunch of people are getting fat salaries to figure that out.

Well, except for the time Manu broke his elbow in a meaningless last game of the season, I believe against the Suns, and the Spurs had a miserabley short playoffs.

Any time you step into the court there's an inherent risk of something happening. Ausar went down 2 minutes into the game. We can't think like that if we're gonna compete.
