Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Come on my guy. You dont need to ball handle any more 😂

I would have been annoyed at this a year ago. But I'm learning to not put a ceiling on this kid tbh. If he wants to try and continue and develop his handle more, then go for it. Who are we to say he can't be like Kyrie tbh :st-lol:

Am I the only one that has a hard time understanding Wemby?

Doesn't help that most sideline reporters are fighting for their lives trying to reach and get the mic in his face tbh.

The play where Edgecombe tries to make an entry pass over Wemby and he just snatches it with zero effort is such a microcosm of how insane it must be to play against him. I believe that's the first time VJ has ever played against him so was still getting used to his length.

Like I'm pretty VJ hasn't miscalculated a defender's length when making pass like that since he was 5yo playing against his dad tbh. The best players in the world getting sonned like that is so hilarious to me.

He said that ge’ll go away from ball handling because the team needs to get better for the playoffs.

This guy has got to be the biggest crybaby in NBA right now.. He's really been pathetically begging for this award for couple of years now. :st-lol: I genuinely pity him for his supreme lack of self-awareness..
0.8 blocks and 1.1 steals, which are also his career averages. :st-lmao:

The worst thing of all is that Wemby would be averaging like 8 blocks per game if opponents were taking the same shots they're taking against Adebayo.

He is a lousy crybaby thinking this still the mid-2000s and we only watching BPG :st-lol:

Maybe not so much blocks themselves as the threat of them will always be important, because the rim, which is obviously where most occur, was, is and always will be the most valuable real estate in the sport.

If you don't alter or block many or suppress attempts and you're not great defensive rebounder, how can you possibly be a candidate for best defender in the league? Versatility scheme wise only goes so far.

I don't get it. He's here talking about Miami's D ranking 4th... isn't San Antonio ranked 3rd?

When did he say that? The post game press conference? The video I watched, it sounded like he was saying he wants to do more ball handling.

Something we should not underestimate here is the deep, burning jealousy some of these American-born bigs have of Wemby. At only 22, and on top of being on GOAT defender trajectory, Wemby is orders of magnitude more talented and skilled than them and is already established Top 3-5 player in a league which has near unanimously anointed him as its next face due to his outsized personality and charisma. It is that kind of stature Adebayao and another serial complainer before him , Anthony Davis, will never attain-- a fact that is eating away at them and resulting in this subtle saltiness toward Wembanyama.

It’s not even subtle lol, these estrogenized feminine American players always showing their ass

One of the things the spurs have to figure out is how to get the rebounds on that wemby forced. Hear me out on this. The spurs, as a team is #1 in the league in defensive rebounds. Problem is that is because wemby is leading the league in defensive rebounds and defensive rebounding percentage.

Carter Bryant is number two in defensive rebounding % on the team at 18.8%, which is pretty good for a wing like power forward. Champaigne is number 3 at 18%, keldon, the korndog (who is more of an offensive rebounder, and he can’t really play with wemby together based on the numbers).

The number 2 defensive rebounding team in the league, has three players who have a dreb% > 20%. Ditto Dallas (#3) and OKC (#5). What this means is that our defensive rebounds are heavily reliant on wemby. We are also heavily reliant on wemby to challenge shots around the rim, but if he’s doing that he’s out of rebounding position. Which could be something opponents can exploit in the playoffs.

The problem is that we don't know how many defensive rebounds Wemby gets that others would get if he didn't. I think your use of these stats in this way doesn't work greatly. The Spurs are overly dependent on Wemby creating misses and thus rebounds to begin with but I don't think they have a rebounding problem outside of him despite those stats.
