Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

That game winning shot was perfect. He saw he was being guarded by Vucevic and waved off the screen since attacking Vuc straight away from the perimeter was going to be easier than getting a screen and allowing the Bulls to blitz him.

He also made sure to get a 2x1 opportunity, in case he missed.

I want to believe had he been guarded by a wing or a guard, he would have posted up, instead of attacking from the perimeter. That shit should be automatic by now: guarded by a big = attack off the drible. Guarded by a wing/guard = get inside.

Thank you Bulls for putting Vucevic on Wemby basically all night long. I guess they didn't get the memo and did their homework on how to limit Wemby.
Their defense on him was idiotic especially down the stretch. Like how as a coach do you not send a hard double at him on the last possession and force him to pass it so someone else can beat you, especially when he's been busting your ass the entire 4th. Just really bad coaching there by Donovan

I mean.. this would have probably happened if not for Fox on the floor tbh.. Spurs are not an easy team to plan against

Wemby was due for a superhuman performance. That was legendary last night. From what I've seen so far, Wemby is feasting with single coverage against bigs. AD got torched. Missi went missi in action. Literally video game level proficiency. When he faces up and has some room, he's absolutely unstoppable. Smaller players and double teams crowding his space and not allowing him to establish his base is his problem (and the team/staff) to solve this season. Hopefully, Fox can help mitigate some of the double teams. Vassell, Champagnie and Barnes probably need to be replaced with more athletic offensive threats. At that point the Spurs are unguardable and a championship level team.

Yeah the Phoenix thing works if you don’t respect anyone else around him. It’s a reasonable tactic when this team is injured. But Fox being a killer f’s up the whole deal. You can’t give him as much space as Devin and castle. Or maybe you can but his reputation is going to make you keep an eye on him in ways nobody else on this team brings besides Vic

Not exactly sure what he was ranting about, I don't really blame this thing on Vucevic, what was he supposed to do? He simply wasn't equipped to do that. The blame falls on Donovan for repeatedly putting someone like Vucevic on Wemby, without a plan to help.

In fact, he was ranting about Vucevic playing off of Wemby and wemby going into the paint in one step. Like what will he do in that case? Go up to Wemby? Wouldn't that allow wemby to go into the paint even MORE easily? He stepped back repeatedly to avoid having Wemby go into the paint for the rest of the video, and he ranted about leaving Wemby opened for it. Well, wasn't that what you were complaining about in the first clip, where Wemby just stepped into the paint for an easy 2?

Then talking about the Spurs not helping on the drive is bad defence, and Wemby is there to erase the mistake. When you have Wemby in the paint, don't help, he will deal with it (unless he's in foul trouble), because otherwise you leave your man open for 3s.

He just contradicts himself continuously, and is the hindsight master.

It's not a serious channel.

Maybe but if I'm the opposing coach and Vic has already dropped 15 points in the 4th I'm not letting him 1v1 against fucking Vucevic with no help, I'd take my chance on Fox or someone else beating me.

I think its comedy and its pretty funny tbh...

pretty sure his feedback/responses encourage him to exaggerate wildly and excitedly...I lol until it gets repetitive/boring ymmv...

I would probably do the same but a Victor penetration or 3 on top of the key or a potential Fox or Castle drive, in terms of odds you can discuss even though a double team would not automaticaly mean an easy 2. won't complain tho
:st-lol:

Except the lineup to close the game had no forget-me-nots pining away hoping the Bulls would ignore them. They all could score the ball and there were three creators to help them out

he should have gotten closer, so wemby would have driven and dunked on him since he's so much slower. Vuc has no chance to guard him, it is on vic to make his shots and that's it.

this is what I have been saying. If you want to put your best perimeter defender on Fox, then who's guarding Wemby? And it goes the other way around. Not to mention Castle as a third option... You gotta have OKC level defenders to cover everybody.

It's containable if 4th/5th player on the floor can't make open shots, which has been the case in some games.

that has been the case in this game because that was Chicago's gameplan. They put defenders on Barnes and Champagnie all game instead of packing the paint. Which results into Wemby playing 1 on 1 with Vucevic.

this has actually been a very good stretch for the team, where they have seen different coverages:

Rockets: zone defense - shooters were going off
NOLA: Herb Jones on Fox - Fox takes him out of the play and let's the other guys play 4 on 4
Bulls: stay home on shooters - Wemby goes off cause he's guarded by a center

Yep OKC jas the perfect roster t lo guard us

this was an awesome performance but his 3-point shot was falling way above his annual average, that won't happen every single game. This game shows that if he is not double teamed, he can take games over. Unfortunately, it is pretty sure that teams will try to double team him so other players (Fox, Castle, Barnes...) will have to score those open shots.

Chicagos shots were also falling at an inordinate rate through 3 quarters.

If you play last night’s game rosters in 10 games, we win 9 of them handily.

true but OKC will stick with Chet on Victor, they will send help but won't 90's double or triple team him, Victor 2.0 is eating bigs for breakfast so there is that
