Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

And honestly I believe the only thing that will ever hold him back from the being the greatest...at least basketball wise...will be his body. At that height, we know that the body is a bit more delicate.
The way he moves protects him. He glides more than runs.

Also if he blows a knee out I think he’s still an all star because of how skilled he is and his height. There’s more resiliency here than people think. Hes also not one of the pituitary/thyroid cases like boban and mureson. I worry about someone diving into his legs. I’m not worried about much else.

I worry about seeing GS in the playoffs and Draymond deciding he's going to end Wemby.
With no foul.

That is also my fear. Draymond is very dirty and he will go after Victor the same way he has gone after foreign bigs such as Adams, Sabonis, Sengun. It will be interesting to see if the refs will allow him to hack and grab Victor like he's done those other guys or will the league office have the refs crack down on him to protect their future cash cow Victor.

Is there any legitimation of the "Shams reporting Wemby willing to take massive pay cut" stuff?

As fun as it would be, I feel like he deserves to get paid whats possible.

There’s a reasonable chance that Wemby considers himself an important figure in human history. No joke. He’s brilliant and able to seemingly do anything. He’s one of the tallest humans in existence and possibly the most talented person of this stature in recorded history - maybe human history. And he’s taking this thing that we’ve spent decades obsessing over who’s better than who and he might swoop in at age 23 and go “big deal” and then end all discussions about what’s even possible on a basketball court.

I’m not screwing around here either. This is actually very strange and historic stuff. It could go the other direction, obviously. But I don’t think Vic is content with just being LeBron. I think he wants to break the game so nobody will ever touch him.

Health is Wealth.....may he be healthy

How long ago was this reported? Is it recent? Never heard it.

For Wemby's legacy to reach it's peak, he has to win. A LOT! That means the best supporting cast possible. I could see him going the TD route to give himself the best odds of winning. His endorsements are astronomical and he's smart enough to create more wealth. His generation isn't typically wealth-driven, either. Probably an indicator that Castle and Harper will be getting great 2nd contracts. He's not messing around.

lol espn is going to flail so hard trying to create news from the spurs. And Wemby in particular. They have nothing.

Said it in the game thread; as long as Wemby still has these complete "ima take the night off" games you can't put him in Top 4-5 just yet..Even as a Wembanyama fan, the first week glazing from media & internet was a little too premature.. As we just saw sadly, he still capable of vomiting single digit scoring games like some deer-in-the-headlights rookie..

Yep. Everyone has bad shooting nights, but you can’t have these sort of games where you look totally lost and incapable of generating any sort of positive plays. It was also the least involved he’s been on the boards after a terrific start to the year in that regard.

He’ll be fine, but this should be a sign that people need to pump the brakes on proclaiming him the best player in the league.

Trade him for Rondo. We need some culture.

I don't care that Rondo is not on a team! Trade some picks to his family!

He's like a totally different person some nights, it's crazy. I think it must be fatigue, there is really no other explanation. Daylight savings time was today, maybe his nap regimen got thrown off?

Crazy just how feast or famine he is. Anyone can have off nights but Vic has nights randomly where he is virtually nonexistent. Perplexing stuff tbh.

It looks like brain fog, like his processing is a couple steps slower than at his best. I guess I had assumed games like this were a thing of the past but that's pretty silly five games into the season. Maybe they will always be a thing with Vic, who knows?

Especially when he makes comments like "I'll get more blocks than get dunked on" or whatever the quote was. Just comes off as fake tough guy stuff. Less talking and more just showing up to play. Every team will bring their A game.

Exactly.. see my post in the Castle thread,.

Single digit scoring in this current era of offense-first basketball is simply unacceptable for superstar tiered players..There is no excuse for it even you are little dinged-up..It is more of a reflection of a mental no-show than anything else. Frankly speaking, it felt like Wemby did his version of Pat Beverly play-in meme after going up 5-0..He and the team have done and proven nothing still.

It's no surprise that a Dillon Brooks team, even with him not playing, defended Wemby the same efficient way Brooks did with Houston the past 2 seasons tbh.

What's really annoying is that the staff and FO don't seem to have thought about it much and left Wemby to battle by himself in the paint.

For now only a few teams (know how to?) defend Wemby like that, but it can spread quick and become a nightmare as long as we don't get more size and reliable shooting.
