Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

If Wemby and Mitch don't figure out how to get him the ball inside, this series is over. He had 2 FTA yesterday, pretty indicative of him playing outside, he needs to put Minnesota's big in foul trouble to open the lanes. The PG also need to run some pick and rolls. Of course, it didn't help that his 3-point shot was not falling.
Did you notice how of Fox's about 6 drives to the rim 4 of them were highly successful.
So WTF is he chucking away for most of the night.
Super lame.

Mixed feelings about this one. Obviously he was otherworldly on defense but this game showed why offense tends to be the deciding factor. Ant and Randle made tough shots down the stretch - Wemby did not.

Game 2 will be the biggest test of this young guy’s career. Let’s see what he’s got.
wemby just had to not go 0-8 tbh. if he made a couple of those along the way, game would have been won tbh. wolves would guard him different and open up the lane

It still hurts, tbh

Some nights it seems pretty obvious that Wemby's 3 isn't going to drop. After 2-3 1st quarter misses from 3, they need to run sets to get him open at the elbow. Also, bitching about goal tends and fouls?!?! Spurs took way more contact than they dished out in my homer eyes. Wemby's "fouls" were nothing compared to Randle, Reid and co. Mitch seems in over his head and might need to reevaluate the game plan going forward if he's capable of that. We have a chance here, but, we need to solve this problem if/when we face the Knicks again. That's our kryptonite, bigger, bully ball teams. Sadly, we have relinquished homeport and have given a hobbled team life.

:st-lol:

if I were Victor I would tune down tbh.. no need to let your franchise believe that you will stay no matter what
Do you really think the Spurs would offer him a dime less than maximum?

I’d like him to keep quiet just to watch other teams tear down and divest in a vain attempt to acquire him.

My comment is more related to the global effort that need to be done to build and maintain a championship team including accepting to go deep in luxury tax territory with potentially 3 or 4 max contracts (victor, fox, harper, castle) to deal with. In that case Victor interest is also fans interest.

For the rest, there is 0 possibility of Spurs not offering the max obviously. The chance that other teams kinda prepare and make room to welcome him is also 0, everybody understands that he will get the max and he will sign with the Spurs. At the end of his first max contract it is another story though.

I don't know why but I feel that Wemby would be willing to take less than the max. I'm not saying that he should or that the Spurs should come with less than the max but I feel that he is the type of guy who wants to win more than making the most money possible.

Asking a question to the cap experts, if Wemby were to take 200 millions instead of 300, what would that change for their ability to sign free agents or resign their own players?

In the 4th quarter on a lot of Minesota offense, Randle only goal is to push away Wemby from the paint while someone else drive to the basket

Even 3 secondes before while the guy driving is just passing halfcourt or is still far from the rim

Basically the same thing wemby receive on offense to get him away from the paint. But on defense now.

Spurs have to adjust to that. Maybe Wemby can spin away from Randle or just fall from the pushing to force a whistle for the moving screen. Or have someone else screen him away of Randle

Because he is completly removed from the defense on those plays even before the play start.

I'm not sure other teams did it before with this much succes

conclusion: one definitive missed call (shannon goaltend), and one 50/50 one (the naz reid shot). the public screeching over the randle shot off the backboard and the gobert foul seem to be misplaced

Wemby needs to move in front of him if Randle is in the restricted area and can stay behind if outside. That means that if Randle comes inside, Wemby should not be sitting in the restricted area, he won't be able to move Randle out of it.
