Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

I’m curious how the Spurs fans who hate Lebron for his perceived arrogance are going to deal with Wemby’s ascent to greatness. I would not call Wemby a narcissist, but I would also not call him humble.
i hate bron for his epic corniness and amenity to corruption. i think wemby will be like Tony parker, speak his mind. Spurs fans HATED parker for speaking the truth and running their mouth. but unless wemby gets an argy rival , he's probably fine .

Isn't this the fanbase that for decades preached how Tim Duncan was so great for being stoic and not really reacting to opponents' shenanigans? Suddenly the exact opposite is true, it seems ..
I think that a middle ground would be good. I liked Tim's being stoic when players were trash talking but I like Wemby's energy with the fans being available for interviews

Tbh…

Easy for me! But I also don’t have an irrational hate for LeBron :st-lol:
Yeah, these guys hate anyone who's not in a Spurs jersey. (* Some of those they hate too.*) You try to talk about other players on other teams being good players and they come out of the woodwork with anger lol.

I honestly think Wemby is trying to give the league the perception that he's not weak or scared. I think KG got into his head and told him he has to assert his dominance on the court and be looked as a bully. Can't have Draymond or Dillion saying the stuff they've said before and let that become the thought around the league. Outside of that, he seems to be a nice guy. Who knows.

Strange, I don't remember that. I can't think of anything controversial Tony said other than when he correctly pointed out his injury was way worse than Kawhi's.

I love that Wemby talks shit when people challenge him in the paint. You scared, you scared, you ain't coming in here. :ROFLMAO:

LeBron has delivered some of the best sports moments I have witnessed. Am I a huge fan? No. But it's really weird seeing grown ass men dissing his game and legacy the way they do. It feels like 30% of sports fans are 10 years old forever.
The Jordan/Lebron debate which kicked off on the sports debate shows over the years took on a whole new level on social media.

Everything was about propping Michael Jordan up and knocking LeBron James down so all of his accomplishments, amounted to practically nothing. And he does flop a lot. That has become a big part of his legacy. The constant ridiculing over the flopping.

he also said that the spurs weren't a contender in in2010 or 2011., which is 100% correct. i thin in 2014 he also told the reporter that the Heat were dumb to leave danny open. people accused him of sabotaging the team for giving the heat strategy points. like spo is some moron coach who ignored hours of tape

Oh yeah forgot that, though that was 2013 when LDN was skullfucking the Heat in Games 1-5. Ended up being a bad thing to say since Tony screwed up his hamstring in that series and only looked about 60% after the injury.

"correctly" or not he totally threw his teammate under the bus in public

"yeah i dno why kawhi is being a little bitch, he definitely should be back playing, i mean look at me!"

plus, we've now seen that kawhi apparently has some longer term/chronic injury and not just some acute thing he could have healed to 100% from like TP did with his

That was when Kawhi went AWOL on the team while he kept telling the media he was ready to play. I don't buy that he was hurt then.

Tony was also defending the Spurs medical team when he made that comment. Fuck Kawhi for trashing them in the media anyonymously. All he had to do was just say "I wanna go home" and Spurs fan would be bitter for a year or two but get over it. But no, trash the team, disrespect the medical staff, and call out everyone but Pop, and play the victim so the Spurs look like the bad guy. And the fucking media swallowed it hook line and sinker despite the Spurs being the most aggressive team in the league for years at load management to keep their guys healthy.

i dont remember kawhi saying he was ready to play. its been almost 10 years now but i feel like the story was kawhi got second/third opinions from his own doctors as opposed to the team docs that cleared him to play

then there was a players only meeting where the guys were pleading kawhi to play. it was around or after that time when parker went to the media and said his injury was way worse than kawhi's

the speculation (i dont think this has been reported anywhere but has been people trying to connect dots) is that spurs docs basically told him he has chronic issues so he's never going to feel 100%, but kawhi wanted to believe that with some additional treatment/time, he could be back to full 100%... hence him getting second/third opinions and not coming back despite spurs docs basically telling him this is as good as you're gonna get. kawhi feeling pain/discomfort while docs are telling him he's good to go probably caused some distrust between kawhi and the team med staff which is why he then went and did his own thing

his teammates more or less calling him out first in private and then in public was the nail in the coffin

Kawhi kept leaking he was about to come back. One example that really sticks out was when Pop tried to rule him out for the season the day before a big ESPN game vs Golden State only for Kawhi's camp to tell ESPN he was making his return that night. And of course no he wasn't, he was hiding out from the team with Uncle Dennis in New York. I believe the Spurs medical staff over taking Kawhi's and Dennis' words as true, especially after all the illegal shit we have seen the two of them do since leaving San Antonio.

man, i really dont remember any announcement that he was going to return on a day he didnt. you may be right, but this eludes me completely

The media didn’t swallow it hook line and sinker. The media just wanted him to go to the lakers so they were trying to get on his good graces and hopefully get insider info when he goes to the most lucrative market in basketball. It could be a career changing gig like Brian windhorst with LeBron or bob costas with Jordan.

He said it in 2013,and it was a dumb thing to do. Danny didn’t get three more open looks the rest of the series, and we lost. Spo isn’t dumb, but superstars sometimes tune out their coaches. They do not, however, tune out opponents putting them on blast.
