Not that I wouldnt like it, but I dont see him playing 35 mpg a whole season (75 games above) tbqh. I see more or a 30-32 mpg 70 games above.View attachment 1631
Lots of chatter in the media about Wemby’s minutes, but it’s pretty explainable.
If we break Wemby’s Season into 3 segments, we get this:
Pre-Injury: 12 games, 34.7 mpg, 26.2ppg, 12.9 rpg, 4.1 apg, 3.6 blg
Injury Bench/Load Management Wemby (which is really only Dec 13-31, IMO): 9 games, 23.2 mpg, 21.9 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.6 apg, 2.0 bpg
Post-injury Wemby (Basically all of 2026): 43 games, 28.9 mpg, 25.2 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 3.0 apg, 3.2 bpg
But a lot of those 43 games in 2026 were blowouts when Wemby played limited minutes. To start the season, he was averaging almost 35 mpg and I think there is plenty to point out to say he would play 33-35 mpg if he was needed to.
His dominance will always allow him to suppress his minutes per game average by virtue of blowing out other teams and scoring 30 points in 22 minutes and calling it a night. 29-32 is probably about right, but shouldn’t be viewed as him “not playing enough minutes”. When he’s needed, he puts in the minutes. Not that I wouldnt like it, but I dont see him playing 35 mpg a whole season (75 games above) tbqh. I see more or a 30-32 mpg 70 games above.
Though obviously we would all like for Wemby to play more mins and stay healthy
These playoffs are gonna tell us a lot stamina wise. We all know he would want to play all the minutes tbhHis dominance will always allow him to suppress his minutes per game average by virtue of blowing out other teams and scoring 30 points in 22 minutes and calling it a night. 29-32 is probably about right, but shouldn’t be viewed as him “not playing enough minutes”. Smart decision by the Spurs. No point in risking injury in the last game of the season.
I think this is likely to be the biggest deciding factor in whether the Spurs can ring or not. Can Wemby consistently put up 38-40 mpg when things inevitably get challenging? Will he have the stamina to still play his best in the 4th quarter when he’s already comfortably exceeded the normal 28-30 minutes that he’s used to playing? These playoffs are gonna tell us a lot stamina wise. He can play 33-34mpg. He did it in his sophomore year. Not that I wouldnt like it, but I dont see him playing 35 mpg a whole season (75 games above) tbqh. I see more or a 30-32 mpg 70 games above.

Idk how you can see a game where we didnt have a big as a slight to Castle tbh.I love my boy Castle but he is no Kawhi and the ALL-NBA nod will have to wait. It's just that Wemby is a 'Top 4 Defense' unto himself and makes it far easier for any POA defender.. A bunch 3 stringers tore us through tonight and nobody could do anything about it.
It is a little bit hard to get a read on what Steph’s ceiling might be? He’s still very young. Sometimes I think he could be a star player. And sometimes I think he’s just gonna be pretty good.Idk how you can see a game where we didnt have a big as a slight to Castle tbh.
I have no doubt in my mind that he can be an ALL NBA player (without other stars being out due to game req) in the near future. It is a little bit hard to get a read on what Steph’s ceiling might be? He played for half a season tbh. And he had that January thing with allergies , etc.He can play 33-34mpg. He did it in his sophomore year.
