That’s not what the posters are saying, but a more guards-initiated offense vs Wemby catching the ball at the key and trying to break his defender’s ankles, until he gets post dominant. Castle, Harper need to keep attacking the rim, draw defense. Wemby with his height and skills is the best opportunistic scorer. He will get his ally-ops, open shots. Klay Thompson didn’t even have to dribble to get a shot!

Not what you're saying, perhaps - and that would make you a more level-headed observer, bien sur - but there's quite a number who parrot the same line, lemme tell you.
 
Not sure what the rules are at this point, but if Wemby misses this and next years 65 game mark, it's actually good for our salary cap, right?

Has he missed enough games to be ineligible? IF the Spurs finish in top 2-3 seeds, I’m sure Wemby will be up there in MVP consideration

I don't think so as the team is too balanced with many players scoring double figures and hence Wemby's stats will not be as impressive as others.

Maxey, Luka, SGA, Joker, Giannas, Cade and even Austin Reeves are putting up MVP numbers.


If Joker is not eligible for MVP, I guess SGA will repeat as MVP given that OKC will still have the best record in the league by far and the greatest net +/- of all time.

Why not?
He was at 26/13/4 with 3.5 blocks before the minutes restriction.

Even 24/12/3 with 3 blocks is impressive considering he's by far the best defender in the league.

Yea but other people like SGA and Luka etc are putting up 30+ points triple double. I also think we have to factor in potential 'minor injuries' from Wemby that might restrict his mins again which will lower his stats further.

Nonetheless, the one big advantage that Wemby has over them would be if Spurs able to maintain 2nd seed. But that would also depend on how big the gap is between 2nd seed and the 1st seed OKC.

Realistically, the best chance for Wemby would be Spurs captured the 2nd seed and the Media people starting to dislike FT merchant SGA and decided Wemby should take the place of the face of the league now.
 
Beside Derrick Rose, is there anyone else who won regular season MVP while on their rookie contract?

I don't recall anyone else because the NBA introduced the new Derrick Rose rule when that happened

Sga is averaging 32/4.6/6.4 and will deservedly win the MVP.
Luka is at 33/8/9 with worse TS% than Wemby and is a traffic cone on defense.
Those 20 extra points his offense generates are given right back on the other end.
 
If the team holds up with the same winning percentage, or just slightly lower than the current one, until Vic finally plays at a hundred percent, he has a decent chance IMO. There is still more than enough time to adjust the narrative in his favor.

The only thing against him (in addition to SGA sustaining his otherworldly season - and he seems likely able to sustain it) is the 65-game limit, which is looking a bit more dire with each passing week.

Yes, assuming Joker is not eligible, SGA will be Wemby's biggest competitor for MVP but this also assuming Wemby stays healthy and Spurs going to maintain 2nd seed

I'd guess that Luka is more likely to win; the press loves to lick the Fakers taint...
 
It looks like the league wants wemby to win it or atleast he’s in the conversation. He’s still in top 5 even with mediocre stats. If the spurs win 5 straight with wemby putting 30+pts/13/3/3 i think he will jump in the top 2.

If the league wants Vic to win they'd need to relax the 65-game threshold which obviously isn't happening.

No, the league obviously wants him to win it. Its the spurs organization who is the hindrance on wemby’s mvp chances by playin him less minutes and sitting him games.
 
Even a healthy Wemby isn’t top 5 in MVP right now. A little behind Cade and Ant imo. It’s the DPOY that gets on my nerves - mostly because he obviously should have won it his rookie year but people think it’s a team award for some stupid reason. And now year 3 it’s another nope because of an arbitrary cutoff threshold.

He is the the top 5 in latest rankings because league wants him to win it and they are hiving him a chance. Spurs organization is the hindrance tbh. And also wemby as superstar/ franchise player he should be in control not the other way around.
