They saw us blow 20-point lead to Nuggets on B2B in the one game Wemby missed and they are still acting like he's KD on the Warriors
No, because paying the best players in the league (Wemby is one of them) the super max is not a problem whatsoever for teams/franchises. These guys are actually worth more than the super max. Giving away a generational talent like Wemby for silly reasons and hoping that you somehow get equal production and quality out of five FRP would be terribly irrational thinking and mismanagement.
Not for us that have been paying attention, tbh. (Check the date).Narratives matter, who would've thought...
E: also it's actually fuckin' crazy the sheer power that Wemby's words (and actions to back it up) have on the league. As recently as two weeks ago you'd be laughed out the building for pushing a Wemby MVP serious argument -- and the guy just comes out and says "well, defense is half the game, and I've beat Shai 4 times this season, I think I deserve it" and now the odds are shifting to his favor? Truly surreal. We could not be more blessed.
I can't wait until he inevitably speaks out on the refs in the playoffs, maybe it'll be the straw breaking the camel's back and forcing Silver into real changes....
And guess who votes for MVP. If the Spurs finish 1st, Wemby is winning MVP. Mark my words.

Yeah Bron's just your ordinary everyday fusion of Michael and Magic, nothing to see over these last 23 years. The self-awareness on some people… is just not there![]()
Check the dates indeed:Not for us that have been paying attention, tbh. (Check the date).
I posted this in the Kings thread, but it probably better fits here...
This my be Spurs Colored Glasses, but I think one of the biggest things Wemby can do to insert him into the MVP discussion would be to finish with the #1 seed AND do these things:
If the Spurs are the top seed in the west, and Wemby has won the battles against all of the other MVP candidates, it's going to be really hard for a voter to look the other way when they'll also be awarding him the DPOY. When they passed up Kawhi for Steph in 2015-16 in MVP voting (when Kawhi won DPOY), it was easy to turn to Steph leading GSW to 73-9. There is no way you don't award the best player on that team the MVP.
- Go 4-1 against SGA and OKC (done)
- Go 4-0 against Jokic and DEN (which would be 3-0 for Wemby, since he missed the first game)
- Go 2-0 against Cade and DET (starts tonight)
That is also a great demonstration of how defense absolutely plays into the voting conversation, despite whatever some troll on this forum thinks. Kawhi only averaged 21ppg that year but was DPOY and was considered the best two-way player in the league. LeBron had significantly better offensive stats than Kawhi that year, but voters still gave the #2 spot in the MVP race to Nephew.
If Wemby pulls us to the #1 seed and dominates all of those other MVP candidates, the conversation will get very real.
I tried to think of a measured way to respond to this, but the best I have is this is stupid and you are stupid.Difference is Wemby has skill and finesse and actual swag and charisma.
Lebron is Lu Dort with a slightly better handle, no bag having linebacker layup merchant. Can’t wait for everyone to forget this media manufactured poser fake GOAT. Makes my blood honestly boil tbh
That’s insanity that they don’t wait until the end of the regular season. In baseball They have to wait until the end of the regular season to cast their vote. That’s total bullshit. If the Spurs end up with that number 1 seed and Victor doesn’t get the MVP because people cast their vote two weeks prior that’s robbery.Apparently not, according to Reggie. Kind of ridiculous.
And then you have old fucks like Kornheiser and Wilbon saying they have Wemby below Jaylen Brown because they are too old to stay awake to watch anything but East Coast games
That’s beyond stupid, downright irresponsible. Considering these guys can lose money by these awards.
I hate advocating for multi-millionaires but no wonder the players hate the media.
