I’m sure glad we’re starting the corpse of Harrison Barnes over the 22 year old prospect.

idk what we can even hope to get for him. have barely played him all year so it’s obvious we don’t value him at all
 
The Spurs tried to make the Sochan experiment work in different ways but the dude just regressed in every department. He needs a fresh start somewhere. And yet another fresh approach at learning a basic jump shot. At this stage any serviceable PF/ forward would be better than Sochan for the Spurs.
 
I wish Sochan well but the fact that the highlight of his time here was saying “Fuck Houston” shows we won’t miss him at all.
 
The writing is on the wall with Jeremy. But hell giving Kelly O minutes is no bueno. His defense is atrocious and his offenses right behind. If Jeremy is gone, I at least hope KO brings us something at the trade line as well. Maybe a couple 2nd picks for the future. We seem to be lacking those right? 😃 Something had to happen behind closed doors w Sohan not to get any meaningful PT even in trash minutes. I mean, the dude shoots the 3 the same as our starting pseudo point guard 🤡 (I kid as I still believe in Castle).

I think we all can agree CB could use some G league minutes, but it might make sense to MAFTO to give Carter some playing time as there really isn’t anybody in the future at PF position.
 
I don't understand why Sochan can't just play D, grab rebounds and maybe some nice passes for a few assists. He could avg 2/6/4/1 and be a huge plus. Why force him to handle the ball? Why force him to drive with his clumsy can opener paint penetration? Just as a basic role player he would be contributing or at least upping his trade value and then we can see what develops from there and if it matches salary and expectations.
 
Spurs poorly managed Sochan this year. He could have had a positive role on the team. He showed elite flashes of pick n roll play with CP3 last season
 
To quote Succession - "I love you, but, you are not a serious person." It seemed like he went his own way over the summer vs tightening his bonds with the guys that played hard all summer and developed chemistry and a more winning culture. Harper slid right into that along with Vassell, Wemby, Castle, Champ and Kornet. Poor Jeremy was not part of that crew and seemed lost, isolated and more concerned about tatoos and the Polish team. Of course, if he had improved 5-10% at anything it might be a different story. I wish him well and hope another NBA team can give him another chance. Sadly, I wish even more that the Spurs can get a contributor soon that fits the vibe here.

EDIT: Just made me wonder if Stanley Umude gets a shot at all this season if/when the Sochan is gone.

because he is not mitch's darling, it really is as simple as that.
 
Sochan has been mismanaged by the Spurs organization from the start with Pop’s failed attempt to make him a point guard. That wrecked Sochan’s confidence and went on for too long. But today’s responsibility for Sochan’s failure to contribute is mainly on him. Sad.
 
Yeah, I'm not going to sit here and say the Spurs managed him perfectly but at the same time it seems a little insane to me to act like it's all on the organization. In today's league you simply have to be at least some sort of offensive threat in one way or another and Sochan isn't that. Also doesn't help that 3-point shooting is one of our biggest weaknesses with this roster as a whole, so finding time to play Sochan becomes even more difficult.

Wish him the best and I wouldn't be TOTALLY shocked if he ends up being a respectable rotation player somewhere else...but he's got an uphill battle for sure. Hopefully we get more than just a couple 2nd round picks or something but I'm not super optimistic.
 
tbh Sochan's plight should serves as a warning to Castle as well.

Castle is at year 2 now. If he still unable to get this 3P% to average at least and continue his TOVs, he might be in the same situation as Sochan in his 4th year

That'd be disastrous. It'd mean the Spurs missed out on his peak value, which is not something I ever would believe happening.

Castle has already shown far more in 2 years that Sochan ever did.

Not to say it's guaranteed he is a long term fit for the Spurs future plans, but there would be far more teams willing to take a "gamble" on him if he hit the market. That doesn't seem to be the case for Jeremy.
 
Good for him tbh, I hope he finds a good landing spot where he can get some minutes.

Sadly, this reads to me that they're gonna just dump him to a spot that his group picks out instead of trying to package him with Olynyk or something.
 
Does the fact that the team has told his agent that its OK to look for a trade mean that the spurs already tried and couldn't find anything?
