Happy New Year Bums!
I wanted to take this opportunity to perhaps start a tradition that will not be quite as exciting as banging the drum after a win, but will hopefully be appreciated in the spirit of transparency. I speak for myself here, but I'm sure fellow site owners @Guru of Nothing and @ffadicted share my sentiments in thanking all of you for making this community what it is. You all migrated here from a site we loved, taking a leap of faith in doing so. Without you, we are nothing. So thank you. I plan on doing a post like this every quarter, as I believe being completely transparent with you all is the way we avoid the fate of sites past. I'll sticky this in the SpursTalk forum for one week, and then I'll move it to the announcements forum where it will be archived for the long-term.
With that said, I'm proud of what has been built here. We have a modern, functioning and stable forum that looks great and performs wonderfully. We've added features such as the Game Widget and our Community Game Grades. We've added copy and past functionality for images. We crowdfunded a full years worth of expenses for the site in a matter of minutes. In December, we hosted a little under 20,000 posts (19,567 to be exact) and saw 253 average daily active users of our 499 total registered users (shout out to whomever becomes number 500!). All I can say is... wow. And to think... we're just getting started.

I do want to address some specific things and remind folks of some basic community guidelines.
We operate by a general rule here, and while we aren't perfect, we try to stay true to it: don't be a dick. This does entail some other rules: no politics, no slurs, no repeated personal attacks, etc. I issued a temp ban for the first time yesterday for someone repeatedly attacking other members for having differing opinions. I won't hesitate to do more of this. When I've seen people going over the line with slurs or repeated language or behavior that I consider to be crossing the line, I've reached out privately and directly to folks. Almost everyone has been understanding and has course corrected. Thank you for that. I'll continue to do this, because my goal isn't to chase people off the site... but rather to keep this place focused on the sharpest Spurs discussion on the web and done so in a respectful, mature manner. Sometimes emotions get the best of us and we slip a little, and I give a lot of leeway there. I'm even guilty of this myself. But if it starts to feel like it is crossing a line, we're going to be quick to shut it down. If you don't like this, there are other places on the internet you can go, it's that simple.
Lastly, I want to close by pointing out how fitting it is that this site has come together as well and as quickly as it has. Some might say it is even ahead of schedule. Sounds a lot like the team we are here to support. Go Spurs Go and viva Baseline Bums!
