UPDATE: GOAL REACHED AND CAMPAIGN ENDED!!!

BASELINE BUMS 2025-26 SEASON PLEDGE DRIVE

BaselineBums community,

As you know, this site was born by members of the SpursTalk community in response to needing a more stable home. Special thanks to @Guru of Nothing for having the gumption and initiative to actually get this thing off the ground and to @ffadicted for making this place look amazing. There are things in the works I think people will be very impressed by. Stay tuned!

With that said, it costs money to keep the lights on and many of us have offered over the years to help with that burden. Now is the time to put our money where our keyboards are. Costs for the next 12-months are projected to be $648 (one year of hosting at Xenforo). We are kicking off our pledge drive at $666 which covers that hosting and $18 in Stripe transaction fees.

OUR CAMPAIGN IS LIVE HERE => https://ffnd.co/FCd3fM

There is an option to leave a tip for FreeFunder, but this is optional. If you don't want to do this, simply click on the "recommended donation to FreeFunder" link on the Donation Page and change to $0.

This campaign will run until the start of the regular season on October 22 or until the goal is reached.

Site Management & Moderation

There are a handful of folks administering, moderating and advising on site management. Ultimately, we want this forum to be driven by what the community wants. We'll soon be launching threads for Technical Support and Suggestions. If something is wrong, or you have a suggestion for an update, let it be known! If there is strong community support, we will do our best to make it happen.

As far as moderation goes, we have to acknowledge that our old home had a poor reputation because of some bad behavior. We don't want to start heavily moderating this site, but we will be more conscious of how bad behavior harms the community. As a generally rule, don't be a dick. We will soon post public moderation guidelines so that is very clear what the rules are and what steps will be taken if you repeatedly violate them. Transparency is a key core tenant of the management of this site.

Pledge Drives and Supplemental Campaigns

I envision us having an annual pledge drive during the pre-season every year. From time to time, there may be a need for a supplemental pledge drive. For example, the current hosting plan covers 400k page views/month. We think that is enough, but if we bust through that and have to upgrade to the next level, we will host a supplemental pledge drive. Likewise if there is some unforeseen paid widget we want to have on the site. We'll always be clear and transparent on what each Pledge Drive is going to fund.

Thank you all for joining this community. I'm stoked for our future here. Some of us have been coming together online for over 25 years and several migrations of sites. It's good to see the community remains stronger than any specific URL.

Go Spurs Go,

scott and the rest of the BaselineBums admin team.

We’re already at 30%! Push this thing to the finish line guys.

100% reached.
That is encouraging.
I just now saw the deets on how to send.

LoL combined with some of the stalky types on the previous SpurStalk I like to have the choice of what ID to reveal.

Just saw this thread and campaign already met. Wow! What was stopping ST from crowdfunding like this?

People offered over and over again and kori would occasionally post updates and assuring they didn’t need contributions, or would decline any offers to contribute/purchase the site in DMs

Such a pity seeing how well BB's campaign was met in a mere day if that. Unbelievable!

Back when Kori put up a campaign to support ill children most of us contributed and I'd imagine the same would've contributed to server/hosting costs. What a wasted opportunity.

Great job guys!

It is a bit frustrating, the community has a lot of people committed to keeping it running and a lot of varied talent to provide value for users, all it needed was a bit of attentive leadership… and if they couldn’t or didn’t want to, nothing wrong with passing on the torch either. We all would’ve jumped at the opportunity just like we did here.

But I suppose water under the bridge, new start!

Man, I went through this with Free Boards at GoAzCats for the Arizona Wildcats in 2014, so big credit to the community creating a haven. That Arizona community is now 11 years old at BearDownWildcats.com, so I’ve seen and experienced the successful refugee relocations.

This one seems like it holds lots of potential. Always tough to make that choice.

Not really a tough choice at all when it was down for two weeks, and even now, crashes without notice.

I get it. I do. Ours was also a VBulletin forum, went in for a supposed upgrade, basically disappeared for a week, things were much worse, lots and crashes, went down fully for a second time for many more weeks with no updates on timeframe. We all organically rallied to save the community as best as possible as a just in case that ultimately needed keeping when the free board was shut down rather than fixed.

It’s still hard leaving a community with a million posts and so many more members and histories. Why’s easy logically isn’t always easy sentimentally.

Nobody is arguing against that. Maybe it wasn’t difficult for you, but I’ve lived it. I’m not even a Spurs fan and my heart sank seeing that 20+ years forum falter. That’s all I’m saying.

It became easier for me when it was confirmed that Kori and LJ were no longer managing it. This is my second major migration, so it’s familiar territory, even if it’s been a while since we got the boot from SR.

TBF I get it too, I was in those forums for 16 years lol I would've way rathered put the effort we put in here over there instead, this forum came together in record time, it would've been super easy to just make this the new Spurstalk forum and reroute the URL... but 0 collaboration from leadership or anybody or any messaging on it made that impossible. Push came to shove

Look at the bright side, we got rid of all the political and racist shit by changing domains and hopefully a lot of people who avoided ST because of it will eventually join BB.

Get all that. The shit I went through to rally, find, invite, convince our 10+ year community to follow me was immense and very taxing. Double that history (and members) and this couldn’t have been easy in actuality or sentimentality, but like said, the main crew rallied quick and made things happen.

I like this mobile layout a lot.

Y'all should honestly do a mid-season pledge drive just so we can tip you guys on the work and efforts of this site. The season overview widget is badass!
