To be somewhat fair, he seems to be saying that Sengun has always sucked at defense, so there's another reason why they're floundering right now.

I think they're missing Dillon Brooks a lot. FVV for managing the point, Adams for rebounding, and Brooks gave a ton of defensive identity and flexibility they no longer have. A reason why they're so wary of losing Tari Eason, who provides at least some of the same.
yeah but i expected some other comment like "we have to do a better job of being able to help/rotate" or something. just saying "yeah alpi sucks at defense" and then adding no other comment... is just wild to me

True. There's a clip of Durant yelling at Sengun "Play some fucking defense!" So... the team seems to recognize a problem here.

yeah i shared that as well. players getting frustrated in game, we've seen. coaches straight up leaving a player out to dry like that in the post game presser... wild
It's usually the first step towards the coach being fired, the player getting traded, or sometimes both.

not much to keep track of today. maybe the pelicans upset the wolves. otherwise bucks winning over the pacers would be preferable

Agree. But even if you take Udoka as calling him out, I see nothing wrong with that. He's flawed defensively but he is flatly making mistakes too. He can do better. If he wants to be a star on a contender, he must do better.
This isn't just his limitations, its positioning and effort and focus. I think Brooks did cover a lot of his shit, but Alpy needs to do better.

Like great, you can score 20.9 points on over 16.3 shots with a 55.0% TS%. You know who that sounds like? 2023 Keldon who scored 22 on 17.7 with a 55.1 TS%. Alperen has lightyears more help than Keldon had and he's a less efficient scorer. League average is 58%. Alpy is less efficient than Shaedon Sharpe and just barely ahead of Vassell and De'Andre Hunter. Not "star" company.
Time for some public shame or at least a reality check.

hes also fairly turnover prone for someone who wants to be a hub the offense runs through. he's been below 2:1 ast/to ratio every year of his career. thats fine for a typical big, not good enough for a playmaker archetype

Spurs finally getting some breathing room at the top.

With 31 games left, having 5 game lead over Wolves & Suns (two teams we can't win tiebreaks against) is a nice margin of error to have considering how fast injuries can change things. Don't think we weather another Wemby injury as well as we did early in the season. So this a good cushion against potentially falling into play-in zone if that happens.

Winning the game in LA next week would be huge as we’d clinch the season series against them. If we do that and split the other two I’m a happy camper

Both Curry & Doncic could be out for that West Coast trip. Really opportune time to put that second seed on a lock and, depending how OKC fare without SGA, we might start sniffing around that Top seed too.

Teams are angling to get the Spurs in the first round :st-stirthepot:
It is par for course that veteran teams would want the inexperienced teams with a bunch of playoffs virgins (players & coach) :st-lol:..Sometimes you need to get lucky with your first round opponent if this is your first rodeo (see OKC getting the Zion-less Pelicans in 2024)..

I'm still leaning TOSB Warriors, tbh. I think we win that series in 6 even if Curry averages 40 ppg.

They’re going to be toothless without butler. And I’m probably the only curry fanboy on this forum

Watch Moses Moody go 2001 WCF Derek Fisher
Not happening :st-lol:Warriors are in their '97-'99 Rockets phase. You know it's over, but they keep throwing TOSB stars and other has beens around their ageing franchise player hoping it will magically click again.

This team refuses to guard the three point line so every opponent is a threat. Did you not see Collin Sexton go 2001 Derek Fisher on the Spurs a week ago?

Sad thing is their inability to guard the three is all mental/effort at this point tbh.
