Player The Haggard Falcon Rest Home of Harrison Barnes

I need to eat crow - I was down on Barnes after limited contributions against CHI and in those GSW losses, but since Vic went down, he's come to life and is the ideal as a non-star PF for this team. We have 3-4 less Ws and a massive hole in the roster if it weren't for the fine form of the pencil, HB ✏️

We are taking Barnes for granted but this dude is a machine tbh... never injured, always present bringing veteran leadership and spacing.

and yet we have some dudes him that consider him as the weakest link :st-lmao:

Starting to get concerned what his extension may come in at, lol.

He’s been great this year. Hats off.

As the much needed and only stretch four and consummate vet, a 2 years extension at MLE money seems a no brainer on the surface.

On the other hand, he'll obviously only decline further and how much longer can they continue to get away with such a size/defense/rebounding deficit at PF? Especially with Wembanyama being a question mark durability wise and no reliable third C.

Talk about going from early season hero to expiring contract/trade fodder. Hopefully the tournament was a blip, but these showings have been nasty stuff.

I'm probably his biggest fan here, but this was just inexcusable.
One bad game is fine, but 0-12 on mostly open looks when it was time to blow the game wide open is inexcusable.
I guess he'll never be a winning player and that we won't be contending while he's a starter.

He's looked shaky and sped-up in all knockout games. Not a good sign for the playoffs.

His misses weren't even close, but bricks you'd expect from Bryant and Sochan.

He needs to go next year. For this year, we can live.
He can be a 10 to 15mpg off the bench veteran next season, but we'll need a new starting PF.

I think deep down we all know that his (and Champs) positions will need to be upgraded, but also hoped the early success this season was something more sustainable than it was.

This was a reminder of that. It may be perfect for this season, but Spurs should think long and hard about his future here. And, if he’s not in the plans, whether it wise to move his contract for value now.

Even if he misses shots when the lights get bright, his mentorship and durability are still incredibly valuable. A reliable regular season floor spacer who can drop 30 on random Wednesday nights, never misses games, is never a locker room issue, won't complain about his role reducing in the playoffs, and is there to mentor your raw future power wing? I'd keep that around for sure.

We were lucky to win the OKC game with his 0% shooting....doing it again was the end for us. Devin about the same.

Barnes is starting to look cooked. We may have squeezed all of the juice out of this gifted grapefruit. His normal poor rebounding bit us in the ass tonight, especially when his shot was MIA.

Should the Spurs just start Carter Bryant and see what it looks like, or just ride out the season with Barnes starting?
