Player The Burgeoning 3&D American Sign Language Consulate of Carter Bryant

Carter said he's looking to be a top 5 player. The kid has lofty goals. I believe he believes it. He hasn't quite sold me ;), but this is a good start.

I like that he used Rashard Lewis as an example (he said Rashard didn't play his first few years in the league and then had some all-star seasons), but I think he got that wrong as remember Rashard playing, and I just looked it up, and he did play in his second and third season, so I'm not sure where Carter got that from.

Doubters nowhere to be seen.
I’m right here bruh. You too quick to bark over one game when I held my judgment over seeing many games. I get stanning over the guy, but be reasonable.

Even Bryn Forbes had big games.

He's looked pretty rough so far. But tonight was a good game that should help build some confidence.

I still think they should find opportunities for him to spend time in Austin. Playing 5 minutes a night is only going to develop him so much.

Probably got that from Rashard himself lol.

No matter how you slice it, it’s notable that CB is getting worked into rotation. Clearly Sochan is out and HB is just not cutting it as a starter. I love that Mitch is at least trying CB and getting him some minutes now to see how it goes.

I really like his tools and have pretty high hopes for him. He’s exactly the size and defensive Forward type we need so him working out would be a huge deal moving forward (even if it’s 1-2 years from now vs this season).

Very nice game from him tonight and hopefully this settles him down and gets him into a nice confident stretch.

That recent assignment to Austin seemed to help him a lot tbh.

Don’t really understand how anyone could be fully out on Bryant. He’s a one-and-done who just turned 20 years old and was very clearly considered a project coming into the league.

If you want to say that he’s terrible right now, that’s a fair judgment…but shitting on the guy and acting like there’s no way he will ever be a respectable NBA player is sort of silly to me.

Carter Bryant very clearly looks like an NBA player. He has great size, great length, super mobile, crazy athletic.

He just needs to learn how to play basketball.

I guess I'm actually going to have to use blue font for sarcasm, ffs.

He seems really smart and has the body/athleticism.

Has anyone seemingly smart but also athletic sucked in the NBA?

Spurs gonna need CB in the Playoffs at least as an insurance. Better get the minutes to get his confidence now. Keep working on it!

We need CB to be the 2nd best defensive player in the world to stop the elite wings. Castle is great but he won't be able to contest those long wings pull up jumper

CB is freakishly athletic. It’s not that far off him becoming a great defender

What's CB's wingspan compared to Castle's? He seems like he could be a good defender, but I haven't ever yet been impressed by Carter's length on any play, I think.

Well, now that Carter Bryant has popped his dunk-cherry, what's going to stop the Spurs from ringing?

6'11.75" with 8'10" standing reach.
Castle's is 6'9" with 8'6" standing reach.

Castle has solid SF size, but CB has legit PF length.
Aaron Gordon has the same wingspan and an inch shorter standing reach.

I'm not sure what's the impressive feat you expect from him length wise, he had 2 blocks last night.
And has shown he can get really hight up on some of the attempted blocks earlier in the season.

Wow, that's a significant difference esp. the standing reach! I wouldn't have guessed it from how he looks on TV.

I'm not really "expecting" anything particular from him, it's just that lengthy defenders tend to be very noticeable in their overarching shot contests (Wemby obviously the poster boy), and I hadn't seem it from him (the block I remember from last night was on Nurkic's gathering for a shot IIRC).

But I'm real happy to hear that he's got some positive physical measurements to compensate for the small hands tbh :st-lol:

A few of his impressive speed and block from his 1 and only G-league game few weeks ago

his best NBA game so far. Looked much more composed out there. Also made great defensive plays and is pretty good at altering shots at the rim.

The most interesting about Bryant is that his profile is a tremendous fit with the rest of the roster. Mitch Johnson is right into investing quite a lot of time and effort to develop him because if it works, it will be huge for Spurs. A player like him could help so much this team.
