Mitch need to give him consistent 18min per game tbh
Maybe not 18, but he should be getting guaranteed 10 minutes and we work from there. Give him more if he's playing well.

He hasn't have a negative +/- over the past 6 games since he started getting regular minutes.
A total of 60:52 played, +17 in those minutes. More importantly, 5-12 from 3pt.

I have seen his shot being more fluid and confident, but other than that i have not seen any strides whatsover. Maaaaaybe some good rotations sometimes, but still way more that are bad. Still, fine with him playing 5-10 mins if the game allows for it.

Carter Bryant is honestly making strides rapidly. Perfect time to get him some minutes to see the speed of the NBA game, then likely send him to Austin to put things to work for much of January at a minimum.

Hell I'd say he is better than Sochan already (not that its saying a lot)

I mean, people have been saying he needs to go to Austin all season. Haven't agree with that one, especially when there is guys like Sochan on the team. There's no reason for Carter to go to Austin if guys like Jeremy are playing NBA minutes, then Carter can get minutes too. It's only a small sample size and eye test, but I already trust Carter's shot a lot more. Even Dylan has spoon fed Jeremy some great passes and he's fumbled/fucked those up too half the time.

If he can get 10-15, by the end of the year he should be more comfortable. He just second guesses himself too much sometimes, and PT will be the best remedy for that. He just needs to play his game and accept that there will be some mistakes.

I think the bar is pretty low for Carter right now. Just don't make mistakes. Make a wide open jump shot. That's pretty much it. I think he did that last night, and in contrast to Jeremy who was stumbling over his own dick, it makes him look better, even if the comparative expectations are different.

the reason is to get better at everything, rather than get better at a specific role. To me him playing means they never expect for him to develop as a ball handler or passer and rather always be the #5 option the floor. Personally, I have no issue with that.

To my untrained eye, CB just needs to settle down mentally/emotionally. He's starting to get acclimated and is playing much better as a result. If anyone might be the heir apparent and modern-game equivalent of Danny Green/Bruce Bowen it's this kid. Not the same kind of player as Sochan, but, if I had to choose between the two, CB wins. He's playing more intelligently and it's pretty obvious he's always playing as hard as he can. His speed and hops are insane. 8-10 mins sounds like a great developmental pace for him right now.

Yeah, since he's more of a project, I can see why. The Spurs need his skill set in the NBA right now, though, so it's kind of hard to send him away to work in his game when guys like Jeremy are making mistake after mistake out there. He still has value to the team playing now rather than not letting him play at all. It also lets him go against NBA competition so he can see where he needs to improve to make in the NBA for real.

The other thing is, I believe the players the team has, these guys on the team are getting some really great learning experiences just going against each other. I've said it before, but going up against D-Harper, Fox, Castle in practice, that would help all of these guys against other top level players, then you have Victor and having to learn to contend against his insane defense, I feel like it makes it easier for these guys when they have to play the actual NBA games. Dylan and Steph show no fear getting to the rim, but I feel a small part of that is playing against guys like Vic, and also even Luke in practice. I wish that teams could practice more during the regular season as I think the Spurs have a real advantage there.

Summary of the CB/Sochan situation:

Looking good. Matchups aside, 10-15 minutes/game is a great development. Make him earn second half minutes with his play in the first, and by "earn second half minutes," I mean, don't turn the ball over.

the most important thing for Carter Bryant is that the game slows down for him. That only happens with playing time. He looked like a deer in headlights in his first games and is starting to settle down a little.

Just seeing some 3s falling has to give CB some relief.

CB is treated the way Sochan should've. It's not supposed to be easy. The struggles and frustration to get playing time is part of the recipe!

It's barely the 1st half of the season, he'll be a totally different player in a few months.

Sochan got drafted to one of the worst teams in the league, big difference.
If CB got drafted in 2022, he would've been at 25mpg in his rookie season.

That's true, but I think PanameSpur is still saying that Sochan would have probably turned out better if he had to earn those minutes and fight for them.

Sure, and part of Sochan's failure is probably on the FO

But CB is treated the right way for a kid to succeed, nothing given, fight for your place, be frustrated and stfu your time will come etc

CB has also much better fundamentals, which could make his development even faster.

It's obvious we'll need a big forward at PF as soon as the next season.
Bryant isn't ready, but he was drafted because he should develop into that player.
Now that the Cup is over, Mitch needs to find minutes for him, especially now that Jeremy is out of the rotation.

We're running a 9 man rotation right now, no reason to not make it 10 for the regular season.
Bryant should have 6 to 8 guaranteed minutes and we go from there. If he's making an impact, have him take some of the Barnes/Champ/Keldon PF minutes.

Playing even 10th man minutes in the NBA is more valuable than G-league, especially for someone who's projected to be a role player and excel on defense.

Getting more minutes for CB needs to happen. Spurs play the Wizards 2 out of their next 3 games, CB should be getting nice reps (20+ minutes) against bad teams but the Spurs seem to not bring the appropriate effort and execution to those games.

100% agree. Slot him in and let him get reps. He has so much potential.
